Loose steering box fix

Sent my check out on 4/14 (regular mail). Got an e-mail from Darin on 4/23 saying that my DSS would hit the mail on Monday (4/28). Says he's sending 'em Express now. Got it yesterday!Oo.

WOO HOO. Finally got here. Picked it up this morning. Installed it tonight when I got home, took about 45 minutes. Floor jack definitely makes the job easy. Can't remember who provided the tip for using antiseize on the bracket mounting bolts, but it worked like a charm. Will test it out tomorrow morning on my favorite (cr@ppy) road on the way to work

Sent check 4/19. Received DSS 5/5. Installed today (5/7). Install went about as described in preceding posts.



A floor jack is almost a necessity if you doing this by your lonesome.



The test drive was uneventful. I did not see a major difference, but then I didn't expect to. The rig only has 19K on it and the steering was pretty tight yet. Hopefully it will stay that way for a long time to come now.



The DSS is nicely done. Superbly fabricated and the paint job is likewise great.



Mine came with a steel grease zerk FYI.

It definitely works as advertised. The steering feels much more precise and tight. Big improvement from not having it installed. I still have some wandering but I have some play in the ball joints. Getting ready to rebuild the front end in the next couple of weeks.

Mine is on and it works as advertised. The fit and finish is top notch. I'm only a stones through away from Darin and it took 2+ weeks to get mine maybe 3. [can' remember when I orderd] I was wondering what the prob was because this was a Canadian order and should of took 5 days max. [If they had stock] Darin and the gang must be run off their feet with all the interest in their product. All the wait was worth it.

A-1 Bomb

My truck just rolled 200k miles. After the install ,I can actually take my eyes off the road for more than a second or two. No more play. When the steering wheel moves ,the truck moves. Period.

just received mine today. sent the check about 3-4 weeks ago. it appears to be well manufactured.



anyone have a clue as to how long it will take a novice to put this thing on? thanks. scott

I have done two. First one was on my own truck, taking my time and being sure of every step on the printout, about an hour. Second one I did for a friend, he read the instructions and watched as I worked, 20 minutes.

Big thing to be careful of is to be sure not to cross thread the bolts that hold the Weyburn Stabilizer to the truck frame, make sure you use a long punch or similar to line everything up and can run the bolts in several turns by hand before using a wrench on the heads.

By the way on the install use some anti-seize on though bolts it makes things go smoother

We were hoping someone would come up with a definite name for this thing. So far, most were calling it the DSS. (Dodge Steering Stabilizer, or Darin's Steering Stabilizer) Any suggestions?

Actually DSS sounds good



Installed one today, piece of cake, excellent product.



One thing I don't quite agree with is greasing the pillow block at every lube. The bearing is sealed, there shouldn't be much movement inside the housing. Many of my ag implements use the same type of pillow block with greaseable bearings, manufacturer recommends every ten hours on the bearing, 500 hours on the housing. Won't hurt anything to grease it, won't help much either though.

I'm sure happy with mine as is the owner of the 2002 2nd Generation vehicle I fitted one to, ten days ago. Actually he was the original owner of my truck, I'm its second owner.



DSS, EZ, SARS, I'm not heavy into abbreviations, not sure if the letters mean a medal or a virus.



Darin, how many of these units have you made now?

Since I was the one that suggested DSS and I now have one on my truck I would vote for DSS to stay DSS :-laf

Got my DSS on Friday and put it in yesterday. Only had one problem getting it in place. :{ I had to move my bypass filter set up from under the radiator, as it would not allow for the installation of the DSS :{



With that said though, I did get it installed and the difference is like night and day. The truck has 88,540 miles on it and the effect was amazing.



My suggestion to Darrin is that he should approach DC as a prime vendor for this and have it put on all new trucks. Then you can retire in style. Heck you might as well hit the Chubby and Phurd markets as well.



Wish I would have had this idea.



All I know is my truck no longer drifts. Thank you for an excellent product.
