Well Even, although I never officially met you, I did run into you last year a Timberline. I have enjoyed your posts in this forum and the GM forum. I must have missed the posts that got you banned because, although you tell it like it is, nothing I have read has been that negative.

Evan... . Give us a clue???? If anybody, well, GULP! it should have been me???? Just renewed yesterday!! Can you shed some lite on this subject through your TDR friend? I never read any of your posts that were offensive ( to me anyway ) and considered your information unbiased and straight forward... Is this something that just happened??? Last I heard he was warned about 5 times on various topics? I wasn't involved so i can not really say what happened. The latest time however I did "Say" something about the guidelines in a post regarding pricing at the PowerShop, which he is an employee of. I have seen several instances of intentionally skirting the word filter, and can recall 3 price type posts. This is just what I remember "Seeing" in the past. Here is the recent post in question Pricing Violation .



Its being discussed right now I believe tho (Robert and Robin are on Vacation). But yes for the time being his "name" was deactivated from the Bulletin Boards.



Thats all I know at this time. SO wait a lil bit before jumping to conclusions please.

I just joined the TDR a couple weeks ago and in my short time around here I have taken advantage of many posts by Evan Beck. I read the last post about his recommending the Powershop. His answer was in direct response to the question asked... . where can I get a BD exhaust brake for a good price? He knew of a place and answered the question. There is some great information in this forum, it's a shame we have to be so picky that we would ban a user that has contributed so much over something as silly as this. I appreciate someone sharing where to get a "good price" on things I need/use. Maybe I missed something, if he was banned over the powershop post I hope the admins will rethink this and let the rest of us continue to benefit from Evan's posts.

Well I've seen bantering (well more like fighting) going on between a couple of my good friends for a few weeks now (Evan & Rob). I hate seeing my buddies not getting along . I consider both Evan and Rob to be a couple of great NW BOMBers and they've contributed a lot to this Dodge Cummins cause.



Maybe Evan hasn't played by the rules as closely as he could, maybe there was grounds for a forum ban, but it doesn't seem justified. I don't know, I haven't read the "rules. " I would assume Evan has been given fair warning by TDR staff and a chance to comply before being cut off. Hopefully this is more like a temporary thing though, instead of a permanent banishment, so that the forum moderators can examine what has gone on and make a fair assessment. Maybe they were just responding to complaints for the moment and it was the best thing to do for now, in their judgement.



Whatever happens, let's remember how much value these boards are to everyone, in terms of knowledge and enjoyment, and not use it as a place to cut down or criticize other members, as well as the job our forum moderators are doing.

The "problem" is he is an employee of the PowerShop. That was the problem with that latest posting.



As I stated before its still being discussed, so please before anything does anything irrational hang tight. I am the only "moderator" on at this time and nuthing I can do by myself.



I'll talk to Steve and Ken in the morning and see where we stand on the matter.



For now just hang on. Evan just emailed me... .....

Thanks, Kat... You as well as I know, this was a common practice, before, the NEW format which just changed in July!!! I have done it before, not for any personal gain, but to help other TDR Members find answers... I hope the powers of TDR will reconize, the contribution, Evan has made in the past and reinstate him ASAP! As for Rob Hanson, I have removed him from my "Buddy list" and put him in my other file #13...

Actually thats not entirely correct. I forget the date the guidelines were introduced but it was some time ago. Not just with the new format.



And member to member pricing is allowed, but when a member is a vendor or employee of the vendor it should be clarified for people that are reading. So that there is no confusion.



If he added in his signature he was a PowerShop employee everything would be kosher. Like I said I don't know the whole story of a events here only the most recent post.



The guidelines were revised several months before the software change.

OK so Evan is an employee of a vendor who sells products that we all use. He answered a question to help a fellow TDR member save some money. He was not advertising that product for his employer. Hopefully he is not truly banned from the TDR for good. I think many people will agree with me, that it is nice having someone like Evan who works on our trucks at our service for questions or advice. We need people like him, that's what makes this site so useful. Reporting him for his last reply to a good question, is childish in my eyes. It's time to grow up and enjoy the site, instead of trying to get someone kicked off. Hopefully many other members will help in getting Evan reinstated. With thosands of TDR members, I'd think our vote should mean more than just a few peoples votes. Hopefully our $35. 00 will give us this right.

For you others... there is a heck of a lot more to this. You have not even scratched the surface with what information Kat has posted.



Think back a bit... remember some of Mr. Helpful's posts.

Like the one where he was trying to sell some old Banks Ottominds to YOU! Yet, he did nothing but badmouth banks on this board since he became a member. When it was time to sell a few products, then they were ok. But, upon followup, he advised he would disclose the downsides of this product on the phone after you call.



How about his posts on Dr P? Although many of the TDR members would agree, others are happy with his products and most of his language was uncalled for. Exactly how many warnings should we get before action is taken?



This same individual has bragged about getting warned five times from Mr. Patton himself. Yep, lets all be proud of that. Grow up.



How many people do you think he upset with all of his posts about DC cheapening up our Rams in 2001. 5? Is this individual an engineer and know if the changes made are really cheap? Does he even take the time to know if the charges are the same, more, or less?



How many of you got a bit anxious when we changed servors and there was so much downtime? Did you know that some individual on this board has threatened to send a virus to others that disagree with them?



There are many factors in this case. Personally, I have already sent emails to a few moderators to NOT ban Evan. But I think a little bit of maturity could go a long way here.



May a virus NOT be with you.
