FORD - wiring diagram

att: Drivers Mopar aka Bill

Well, it goes like this. I had an 18' trailer loaded with tin, weighing about 8K I would guess. I backed down into a little field and unloaded the tin. Before hand I was warned by my father that I would get stuck. Me being me said "wanna bet" Well I am paying up as I type.

I went to pull the trailer out (the trailer weighs 3K) and I was spinning. To my defense, it was up-hill and slicker than greased... . well you get the picture. I spun, rocked and got nowhere. So the smart-assed old man got his FORD company truck (2wd F-450. Weighs 12K as it sets) hooks a chain on to me and pulls me right out. I did have to keep the wheelspin up or he would spin on the gravel that he was pulling from. I will never hear the end of this, he is a Chubby fan and has given me hell ever since I bought the Cummins. His version of a true diesel is a Maxi-Pad, Cummins, Powerchoke in that order. (I never said he was the brightest bulb in the box)

I need Swampers, more power, and more power. I will never let this happen again. I am ashamed to call myself a Cummins owner and feel I have let the rest of you down. (sniff, sniff)

On the bright side of it though. I thought a 400 horse smallblock sounded sweet singing through the mud. I was DEAD WRONG. The ol' girl was singing up a storm and I am tempted to try er again just to listen to the sweet music of the Cummins. I bet she'll sound real nice with 450HP breathing through a 4" mufflerless exhaust.

Anyway, take it easy on me. A Locker, 36 swampers, and MORE POWER will let me regain my integrety, and show just how much the Cummins will do.

Don't feel bad. I got it put on me one night by a PSD that was pulling a loaded 30-35' livestock trailer. When he went out around me I couldn't keep up. Obviously he was far from stock. I was so embarrassed having my wife in with me and getting beaten by a truck pulling a trailer that size. The first opening we had I tried to pass, but couldn't get around him he pulled on me up to 100. I just licked my wounds and left it go. I can get some sympathy in knowing he there was no way he was close to stock at all. From that day forward I decided that wan't going to happen again. DTT this month coming up then the rest , injectors, turbo etc. Rest assured it won't happen again. :D

I just got lucky...barely

How do you know it wasnt a cummins conversion under the hood?:p

I about got spanked last week. A buddy of mine and I was taking his boat down to get the lower unit looked at. He's got an 18' princecraft with a 70hp (I think) engine on it. I have no clue what this weighs, but it sure didnt feel very heavy.

We came up behind a farmer looking, dented up, faded first gen cummins with a butt-load of old appliances and other scrap on (in the box), any of which could have fallen out at any time. Seeing this, I elected to pass.

We had just started up a three lane, and he pulled into the right lane to let me pass... WRONG, he was baiting me! I stayed in the pass lane, dropped into fifth and stepped into it lightly. I could see immediatly, he wasnt gonna give this one away. My first clue was the incredible amount of coal black smoke that began to bellow from his exhaust. I didnt know what else to do but wind up the hammer and throw it out the window. I stuck it to the floor, tached out in fifth and grabbed sixth. Right foot firmly planted on the floor, we were probably half way up the hill before I got beside him!! (I was turning off all accessories and rolling up my window to save power). My buddy was laughing his a$$ off, and as I looked toward the other driver, he also had a grin on his face. I wasnt smiling, yet. It took the last 1/4 of the hill to get by him (boat and all). I know it wasn't power on my part that got us by, but rather gearing. I was just "longer-legged" than he was. I think he just tached out?? We topped the hill at 95 before I shut it down, and he wasnt too far behind. Its a good thing that hill was as long as it was. I cant beleive he was stock, cause I am running 275's and an EZ and see sig. (dyno at 310rwh).

Moral of my story?

Never under estimate a another truck, even it it looks like it should be hook to a chopper box, and, sell the EZ for a COMP. (thats next)

Jim:D

Oh yeah, the EZ goes a soon as the transmission gets taken care of. Dealer said I could use it for 60 days and upgrade for the additional amount.

BTW-when he went by I got a clear shot, I am pretty sure it was a one ton truck. Should have been a regular PSD. I knew he was turned up when the black smoke started to bellow. I took him for granted because of his weight and then it was too late, I couldn't get him. Oh well, I was still stock then, that just fueled my passion for power. :D It taught me a good lesson
