I am considering purchase of a couple trucks for my business, through Tom Chaney and Lou Fusz Dodge, in St. Louis. They are the ones with the deals at 3% below invoice. Anyone have any experience buying there??

I bought mine there. I flew from Georgia to St. Louis, and my salesman (not Tom) graciously picked me up from the airport. Overall, the experience was a great one, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again, but I know the right questions to ask now.

I did have a slight issue with the fact that my truck had nearly 500 miles on it when I picked it up. They had to search for the options I wanted, found the right truck, and then drove it from the Iowa dealer they bought it from. I wasn't excited to find this out, but they told me it was common practice. I just wish it was more of a common practice to notify the potential buyer about issues like that. We here on these kinds of boards are meticulous and even anal about breaking in our trucks, so FWIW...

Also, don't expect to get in and out of there in a hurry. These guys move a lot of vehicles, and I had to wait nearly two hours to get into the finance office, but this was also during the New Year's weekend. That could explain a lot.

Still, it's kind of hard to argue with $8k off the sticker. Hopefully I won't have to buy from them for a while, but when the time comes, I know where they're at. :)

I don't know about Fusz, but I bought mine at Royal Gate.

Cons - high-pressure salesman that should have turned me off immediately. Deal was drawn out way too long. My Fault - I should have walked but I had a Ford that had to go (transmission kept getting locked in park and Ford finially 'fixed' after 3 tows).

Pros - EXCELLENT service department. They always take good care of me. they have evening and weekend hours and my truck has never been out of service for more than 24 hours.

What am I trying to say? Not happy with the sales team and I never got my 50 bucks for the referral.

I bought from Tom and will buy every dodge i get from now on through him. Royal gate is horrific. I wouldn't take a free vehicle from that place. They are the most errogant SOB's i have ever seen. Had an 01 bought from them because they were good to me first time but they call and say they have appraisers and are willing to take my truck on trade for more than appraiser says it's worth. Long story shorter they have no appraiser "bait and switch" and offer me 16k for a truck that books for 22k. Not to mention all the extra's i had on it. Had it out with the sales manager, hopefully it turned some people away that were in the showroom that day also.

I though I'd post a few things I have collected:

http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?s=&postid=380010#post380010 --- One of the FIRST EVER to buy from me

And of course a good friend of mine that sits in the office behind me that sells on EBAY (same dealership) -- http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=dodgetruckforless

Ahh, life is good

PS - my first G56 6-spd will be here about Feb 15th -- I will of course post a FULL report

Tom getting that B-1 this weekend?

B-1 ?? I wish ($$ is alot)

I was planning on driving to indiana and getting a Super "B" - But someone already took the whole week end off and so I have to work

I am still in the hunt though - The wife will be in CO with friends, I told her if she goes to CO and skies (spends money), then the door is WIDE open on me getting my new turbo

Well - she leaves tommorow, so I am so close, I can hear the impeller in my dreams...

So many mods, so little time

I bought a 4. 5 3500 SRW from Tom May '04. The deal and terms were 100% as stated before the sale . I flew from Atlanta and was picked up at the airport by Tom and driven to the dealership. We went over the truck and I signed all the papers and left. I still kept asking myself "This was to easy, did I really buy a truck"? Tom has my respect as a man of his word. Tony

If I didn't already have a great salesguy and dealership here in NJ, I'd buy from Tom in a flash. He is knowledgeable, accurate, and keeps all of us up to date on factory delays.

Lou Fusz

I bought my 04 from Tom, it was the worst experence I have ever had. I will never buy another truck from Lou Fusz again. I took it to Southtown Dodge for the recall, I bought a 1999 from Southtown Dodge and it was the best experiance I had. They were very nice there unlike Tom at the other dealer. The only reason I bought from Lou Fusz is they had the truck I wanted, I wouldnt recomend Lou Fusz to anyone!

Bought my 04 from Tom. He always had a straight answer for all my questions, best price. Truck was ready when I got there, and no surprises. Best no-hassle deal I have ever made and saved the most money on. When my dad is ready to buy his, it will be from Tom.

Ordered my 05 3500 SLT SRW QC 4X4 LWB CTD from Tom on 11/8/04. Took delivery on 1/8/05, 8 weeks. Could have been in and out in 30 minutes, but as this was my first Dodge Cummins was determined to go through the entire 9 page new vehicle check list found here at TDR. Arrived first that morning and started checking (3 inches new snow and cold). Pulled it into the (warm)service area barrowed a creeper and flash light. Everything checked. 12 miles on OD. Test drive up to 93 mph,OK. 22 miles now back at lot. Hooked up tandem axel trailer to back and loaded (my buddies)05 Ford CC on trailer. Went in signed papers, 20 minutes max In and Out. No B. S. Drove it like I stole it!! 75-85mph 375 miles, except once when a chevy gasser didn't want me to pass and had to spank him. I love this truck!!

Tom will treat right! Will buy from him again and am telling others to buy there as well.

I have purchased an 04, 04. 5 and 05 for my business... and each time they have been 1000 back of invoice and any rebates at the time... . Hope this helps...

See my latest post in the 911 section

I take it all back about Royal Gate Dodge. Getting the screws BIG-TIME tonight. Look at my post in the 911. TSB.

Tom,Can't ya feel the love!!

Oo. Highly recommend! My brother bought a '04 3500 a few months back and the whole process went very smooth! We drove out there to pick it up. Truck was fully fueled and waiting for us. Took less then 1 hour for all the paperwork. We'd buy again from Tom in a heartbeat!

When we picked up the truck, the side mirrors weren't the tow mirros we wanted so he ordered replacement mirrors and shipped them to us. Don't know any other dealer that would do that!

Tom's a great guy! If I'd buy a Dodge I'd buy from Tom!!!! (I just wouldn't buy a Dodge again, but that's another story! :( )

Karl,

I thought I could let this go, but I can't

I am truly sorry that you feel you did not get a good deal or that I mis-handled you as a customer - That said, I found your buyers-order and contract... And it appears that you got a great discount (way under invoice), a fair amount for your trade, and a fabulous interest rate . And I also see your signature at the bottom. Please, If you felt I was not treating you right, do not patronize me with a purchase, it makes no sense...

Trust me, If I knew you were this unhappy, I would have not sold you a truck. And we would have parted as friends

As much as I want to know why you feel this way, It is water under the bridge - and as you can see, I have many happy customers on this site and the DTR

I hope you enjoy you truck, and if you even need any advice on BOMBs - Feel free to call me - I am still a HP-junkie-diesel-head when not on the clock and in suit and tie :D (any friend of cummins is a friend of mine)
