I am going to buy a low PSI fuel gauge for my 2005 Dodge Turbo Diesel and I need to know the best gauge that will be trouble free and vary accurate. I was thinking of a mechanical gauge with a isolator Isspro 0 to 30 PSI . Want to know the Pro's and Con's on Electric and Mechanical gauges and what do you run in your truck.

I had a mechanical ISSPRO 'classic' fuel pressure gauge for 3 years. Used the isolator to keep fuel out of the cab. I decided to move my gauges from the a-pillar to a dash pod, AND I decided to go to the ISSPRO EV2 electric gauge when making the gauge move. Actually, I changed out all the 'classic' gauges to the EV2's.

I have the EV2's installed and I like them very much. My fuel pressure reading is the same with the electric gauge as it was with the mechanical.

It took a couple fills to get the pressure working right with the mechanical/regulated gauge. Last year I had to fill the tubing up again/top it off, but I never saw any place where I might have lost the fluid, so I do not know why it needed fluid again. Also, the lighting on the FP gauge was not as evenly distributed as the EV2's are.

The electronic guagea are really a nice change, slightly different lighting, better lighting than the other gauges.

I have a personal preference for the mechanical gauge myself. I also have it plumbed straight to the gauge (no isolator, but I do use a needle valve to regulate flow). Reason being is that I know the gauge is always accurate, and I have no false readings. I have had too many of those over the years. Talk about near heart attack when seeing the fuel pressure drop to zero, only to find out it's because the sender lost it's ground... #@$%!

CDonaldson Does the LED lights work ok on the dimer switch on you lights and can anyone let me know how often your senders have gone out on the Electric fuel PSI gauges.

I have a single SPA DUAL EGT/BOOST guage in my truck and I used another pressure sender and tied it into my fuel system. I used a double pole-single throw switch so now I can switch from boost to fuel pressure with one digital guage. The picture shows the sender mounted inline. It is towards the bottom of the picture.

I have had no sender problems whatsoever. No additional ground req for the ISSPRO senders, the wires coming off the sender go to the gauge and terminate. You do have a ground wire to the gauge in your lighting circuit, maybe the ground is made via the gauge in a feedback loop?

As far as the lighting, I bought the trim pot/dimmer swith that ISSPRO offers. I connected the ISSPRO dimmer switch input to the dimmer circuit wiring on the factory light switch, and then used the output side of the ISSPRO dimmer control to my gauges. The ISSPRO dimmer switch allows for additional dimming of the gauge lights.

I really like the EV2 gauges, I have no problems using gauges that get their input from senders, I have never had problems in the past with senders and don't expect any now.
