Taking my truck in for recalls...what other "Fixes" do I ask for??

my 18 tradesman g56 does exactly what your truck does. up hills constant surging/miss. light throttle only. 9000 miles. done it since day one. afraid to take to dealer, because last time i took it in for clutch - truck was there 29 days. cheers!

I've only experienced this on my g56-equipped 2013 2500 in 4th gear. And it is because the throttle is sensitive and a bit of gear lash will make it hesitate and then catch ...... as it pulses, it is hard to keep the accelerator pedal pressure steady. I think this is what the torque management at lower speeds is supposed to remedy.

I run my throttle sensitivity booster in valet mode to reduce throttle sensitivity so slight changes on accelerator pedal pressure don't cause uneven acceleration (pulses/surges).

I think so, very light throttle it seems is hard for the electronic fuel injection, on both Diesel and Gasoline. My old Granny 5.9 with the mechanical throttle body doesn't make it.

I have noticed a back and forth surging on uphill climbs and light throttle. I thought I was imaging things. So this is real? I have the dead pedal issue also which may b e what your feeling

Mine is surging as well. It’s been doing it for more than a year but I’ve become so fruatrated with it that I need to do something. Only at light throttle. It’s not visible on the tach, but I can feel it and hear it - so can others in the truck. It’s a 2014, 42,000 miles. I am also monitoring “load” on my Edge CTS (it’s a gauge not a tuner) and I can see the load go up and down by a couple percent as it surges - flat road, steady throttle.

I’d appreciate any help.

Just thought, I wonder if the "HILL START ASSIST" mode that is in the menu on the touch screen would influence this at all or change anything? I haven't tried it. I assume this option is intended for manual transmission's but why is the option still in the menu on auto trucks then.

I "cleaned" the sensors in my intake tube today. I believe they're the MAP sensor and MAF sensors. I put cleaned in quotes because they were pristine at 46.000 miles - not even a smudge on them - and there is really very little to clean on the sensor. I can't imagine it's going to change anything, but we'll see today.

Not at all, the HSA just keeps the brakes with Trans in Gear for a short amount of time till you hit the throttle. The brakes are fully released with just 1% Throttle input.
Modern Trannys do not hold the Truck on an incline like the old ones did, they roll back.
Fuel saving in stop and go is the reason for this, not waste fuel in the torque converter heating up oil.

So does my Durango, might the Rams do the same.
I use HSA all the time since I bought it, very helpful here in hilly Switzerland.

Good to know. Wasn’t sure how and what exactly the feature did.
