luke's link trackbar bushing

Has anyone replaced the trackbar bushings on the 3rd gen if so how did you get the old one's off. Thanks

I just did this last Saturday, I have a hydraulic press that I used to get them out, I'm guessing that you could probably hammer them out, they came out fairly easy. One end of mine was so bad the center fell out, the other end looked to be in fairly good shape still.

Or you could put an adjustable track bar with a Heim joint at one end like the Carli.

How easily did the new bushings go in and how was the track-bar remount?

Once I got the old one out the bushing went in easy and the remount was not that bad.

Mine has 102K miles, one end was worn out, the other end wasn't too bad.

The only place I have seen to get them is Genos, and did it come with upper and lower bushings? Or did you buy two pair?

THe description from Geno's isn't very good, you only need to buy one, it comes with bushings for both ends of the bar.

I just bought these yesterday, and I thought the description was pretty much right on point.



"Bushing kit includes a pair of bushings to do both sides of the truck. "

Maybe the picture was throwing me off, because they only show one side.

The description I was refering to was in a catalog, it didn't say both sides, just a pair of bushings, the picture showed one ends worth which is 2 bushings you actually recieve 4 plastic bushings as you need 2 for each end.

The truck has 68000, the bushing by the steering box was worn but the otherside was still good.

I apologize for asking if 'not that bad' can be equated to holding one end the trackbar in place while sliding in a bolt and affixing its nut and doing the same the other side, or, did it take a torch and a come-along?

I put the passanger bolt and nut first,to line up the driver side I used a pry bar between the coil spring and frame and with a little pressure pulling the pry bar the bolt went right in.

Order the bushing and did my trackbar today. Old bushings were a pain to get out of the trackbar. Had to split the steel sleeve with a hacksaw. Used lots of grease and Luke's bushing went in like a breeze. If you don't want to spend 400 dollar on an adjustable trackbar this is the ticket.

When I did my leveling kit, the last step of the instructions was to let the truck down off the jack stands, fire it up and turn the steering wheel back and forth which moves the diff around till things line up, worked great for me.
