Group Attendance Update

Got some more info from the event coordinator, he is new this year and doing things a little differently.

Here is the link to the event flyer.

Should be a good time.

They are opening the gates for sponsors, vendors and display folks at 08:00. They are going to open the gates for the general public as soon as all of the sponsors, vendors and displays get in. They recommended that we get there as close to 08:00 as possible if we would all like to park together in the pit area. They do not offer group parking corrals anymore.

Here is the breakdown on the entry fees. Subtract $3. 00 from the admission price if we have 25 paying adults in the group.

General Admission $18. 00

Parking 2. 00

Race Entry/ 10. 00

Pit Side Parking

Show/Shine Entry 5. 00

I think we all want to park together in the pit area. It is worth the extra $10. 00 for the pit spot even if you are not racing. If you are showing and racing you can leave your show spot to race. Racers will be given a wristband once they pass safety inspection and sign the waiver. If you are running 13. 99 and below you will need a SNELL 90 helmet. I think you need a rollbar if you are running in the 11's.

We need to set up some meeting spots/convoys so we can get everyone there at the same time.

Please drop me an email

-- email address removed --

if you are fairly sure you are going to make it, include the number of folks that will be coming with you. They would like a rough idea of the number of trucks/people so they will have an idea were to set us up. I will send out updates to folks that drop me an email.

Thanks,

Dave

Count me in for this one. We'll probably camp Friday night through Sunday. Now just have to figure what campground. Any suggestions?

Okay, based on what DaveD posted(which I missed, oops) and what Eric knows from having talked to MIR on the phone, they're right, we got to get there early. Time for plan B. Wash the truck the night before ! :D

Post Time

Based on my conversations with the folks at the track, if we arrive at the gate at 08:30 we should be in good shape. They are going to allow the vendors, sponsors and displays in first, starting at around 08:00. They said they would let us in once the above mentioned folks got in.

I will call the track on Monday to confirm what they told me earlier.

You can dry camp at the track Friday evening but will be locked in for the night once the Friday evening event is over and everyone has left.

Dave

We ended up making reservations at the KOA in Fredericksburg,Va. Good friends of ours live near there and it doesnt look like its too far from MIR.

Change of plans guys, Eric, Tom, Daniel, and myself will be dry camping at the track Friday night in my TT. That way we can reserve an area for everyone that night - so we'll already be inside the track when you get there. It shouldn't be hard to spot us - look for the long trailer (35') and our trucks parked right there. This way we'll have a place to relax during the day, a place to cook, a nice big awning to get out of the sun, etc. Then we're going to go to one of the campgrounds Saturday night. I'm going to verify with the track on monday that this is ok and then I'll make reservations at one of the campgrounds. I'll update you guys when I verify everything.

Steve let us know what you find out from the track. Maybe I will pull my little (32') TT down and stay the night also :D

Thanks

Cliff

Friday Night races?

Any of you guys coming down on Friday planning on running that night, or are you gonna save it all for Saturday???

Looks like events will allow me to be there. I'll likely leave Roanoke around 1PM or so on Friday and meet up with Briar, Steve and Co. at or near the track.

I called the track today and they said everything is fine for the dry camping, but there's no truck washing allowed at the facililty so Tom will have to leave the track to wash his truck. I'm touching bases with the guys to make sure they're still open to it but I'm 99. 9% sure we'll be camping at the track on Friday and then I've gotta make reservations for Saturday night at one of the campgrounds - what campground are the majority of you guys staying at? BTW, the track opens for time trials friday night at 6:30 and eliminations start at 9:00. I plan on being there and racing friday night as well.

Campgrounds,,,,,,,,,,

Hey Steve,

I called Monroe Bay Campground where Chris (CRuD) had said he was going to stay, but all I got was a recorded message that stated "They don't take reservations" Since I wouldn't get there until 7:00 pm Fri night, I hate to find out that they're full and then have to search for a campground that late. I think I'll give Fredrickburg KOA a call unless I hear that you guys have found somewhere better.

Later,

Dennis

OK for the guys not camping at the track. Did we decide on a time and place to meet and go as a group? Or are we all just gonna meet at the track at a given time?

Doug

Campgrounds

I plan on staying at the KOA in Bowling Green. If anyone else is interested let me know and I will see if I can get us a group discount or at least sites near one another.

If someone has a better place to stay on the south side of MD, let me know.

We need to get something nailed down soon, I would think.

Doug F,

Sorry about the PM file. I'll post the exit mile marker info later. You'd think after 16 years living here, I'd know it.

Doug S,

If Budds Creek is 1 hr past Wiredawg, We should be there around 8am. I'm not that familiar w/ the area, so I'm open to suggestions on where to meet.

Bowling Green KOA

Good evening

I beleive 3 and maybe 4 of us "Southerns" will be staying at the KOA in Bowling Green. ( Wes, Dennis and I)

Dennis & Wes. I did not like what the campground machine said. I enjoy the peace of mind knowing that I have a spot to stop at before I get there.

I was looking at the road atlass and figure it is about 24 miles of highway miles to the Bridge. The campground is 2 miles off the highway. I am thinking we need to leave about 0700 that way if we get on the road by 0715 we are still in good shape.

How far is it to MIR once we get to the bridge??

So if anyone else coming up North 301 and want to join up with us you are more than wecome. Sorry I do not have an exit number. Looking at a campground dir. it is near the 301 and 2 split.

See Ya

Chris
