Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Major drop in fuel pressure

I bet yall remember me I had a few questions a few weeks back when I replaced my vp-44. That all went smoothly I put a Industrial Injection vp-44 and a complete FASS system. I have had 22 psi at idle and 20 at WOT for three weeks. Then tonight when I went out to start my truck I only had 10 psi. I did a quick check to see if there was a leak in the fuel system. I couldn't find anything. Everyday up until today the pressure was 22 psi, I don't know the deal is. I appreciate all your advice in advance.

Is your fuel gauge electrical or mechanical? Have you tried a different one for comparison. Sounds as thou your gauge could be the problem.

its an isspro ev mechanical guage

Yeah I agree about verifying that gauge first.

How would I do that? I bought the guage through diesel manor. Do I need to go to Auto Zone and pick up a cheapie to try?

Where is the guage located? If near the IP, that can kill it... I have a dead one now on my dad's truck.



Also, you could have gotten either a piece of dirt under the check ball/pressure release (this would not be good since it would be AFTER the filter), or you could have a broken pressure spring, which I had about a month ago.



My bet is also a bad guage.

My isolator is mounted near the tank and I am using the guage port on the side of the fass system. I am trying to track down another pressure guage for comparison. we will see what that does

This happened to me as well last summer. Was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the problem was. As it turns out it was the isolator. Those things seem to work themselves loose and let air in and somehow don't register properly. I fixed the issue once last year, but when it happened again I ditched the isolator and have not had the issue since. Hope this helps some.

I found an extra oil pressure guage lying around I am going to hook that up and see. The guage is now reading only 5 psi! I put all the guages on new when i installed the vp-44 and fass just a few weeks ago. i am scared to drive my truck with guage reading that, but I sure hope it is the guage and not my fass.

I had problems with my FASS ( The PSI was dropping low) and I was told (By Brad) to drop the tank and cut the screen out of the pick/up unit. There are two layers of fine mesh screen. When doing this I pulled the P/U out of the tank and the fuel would not drain out of the P/U even after 2 mins. After doing this all problems were gone.



Is the extra gauge close to the same PSI as the one that's installed?

i took off the a-pillar and hooked up an 80 psi oil pressure guage. The guage read 20 psi. When I was fiddling with the guage I notice a little anitfreeze on the a-pillar. Then I felt like such an idiot. i put the fuel pressure gauge back and tightened up the fitting turned on the key BAMM 22 psi. Thanks guys for your time sorry waste it on my stupidity
