Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Make your 5600 shift like Butter?

I went with TORCO RTF. Glad I did. It shifts better the longer it is in there. 25k miles so far. It does not change the fact that the NV5600 is a heavy transmission but it shifts much smoother and doesn't feel as "notchy".

New to this. But, all these fluids seem to work for awhile. What would happen if the vents are plugged, and when we change oils we refill the chamber with oxygen?? Just a thought maybe?

No... better use nitirogen... . just like the tires-- unless you use the lubricated air, then it might work.

Hey guys,



Just had my 5600 rebuilt and I think I have the answer on why one oil in one persons 5600 works well and another doesn't...



This info comes from the mechanic rebuilding my transmission... .



My truck was built in jan 2000 and although it is a 01, and has the larger input shaft, the synchros are different from a newer truck like a 02... ... So the newer synchros and stuff may be the answer that some trucks are doing well and others like my early 01 have problems.....



Interesting on that lube guard... I will see how my new rebuild will go. .

My rebuild will be $3500 with the new parts and some shipping...



I have the fast coolers going on and I am having them overfill it by 1 quart to avert the rear bearing starvation problem...
