All,
Yes it's over TWO YEARS that I'm working on the Cummins ECM.
With highs and lows but I'm still working on it.
First of all let me tell you that the Cummins ECM and it's software is the MOST DIFFICULT unit I've ever worked with. In five days I had found more stuff in the Duramax ECM than what I know today about the Cummins. It took me two days to crack a Bosch ECM for the Mercedes sprinter... .
I can't tell you everything I [better we (ADT)] have done over the past two years, that would be too long. Sure is we've spend a lot of money in the mean time. .
Instead let's see where we are today. The different softwares I'm able to write today are(much) better than what I did let's say a year ago. That's positive for you! You don't have to pay for an update...
Today I know almost everything about the Cummins software. The last hurdle I have to jump before we hit the market is the RPM limiter(s).
There are more than one RPM limiter in that software. I've found several so far but the last and most important one is still
working. I speak about the 3200/3500 Rpm limiters.
The limiters work for different load ranges. For zero to light loads I've already written new limiters that allow the engine to rev up to 3900 Rpm. I'm working on the full load limiters now.
The ones that limit the top speed to 3200 Rpm under full load...
How long will it take to find those limiters? Belive me, I really dunno. At this point it's not important! For me it's no longer important if I/we will ever make it to the market.
At this point it's between me and the people that wrote the Cummins software. Let's see who is smarter! Me or them???
Probably my words give you a false picture, in reality I think (hope) that I'm really close to the final solution. I could be wrong!
I've been several times before... .
Will we ever make it to the market? I sure hope so! But to tell you the complete truth, I don't know.
Today we're working on a nice project. I've build an ECM for ADT that will allow them guys to change memory chips on their own.
I can then simply send the softwares over the www.
That will allow us to test many different softwares in a short time. It will also allow us to custom tune softwares for those highly modifyed trucks.
I't s almost ready...
Marco
