All,

Yes it's over TWO YEARS that I'm working on the Cummins ECM.

With highs and lows but I'm still working on it.

First of all let me tell you that the Cummins ECM and it's software is the MOST DIFFICULT unit I've ever worked with. In five days I had found more stuff in the Duramax ECM than what I know today about the Cummins. It took me two days to crack a Bosch ECM for the Mercedes sprinter... .

I can't tell you everything I [better we (ADT)] have done over the past two years, that would be too long. Sure is we've spend a lot of money in the mean time. .

Instead let's see where we are today. The different softwares I'm able to write today are(much) better than what I did let's say a year ago. That's positive for you! You don't have to pay for an update... :D

Today I know almost everything about the Cummins software. The last hurdle I have to jump before we hit the market is the RPM limiter(s).

There are more than one RPM limiter in that software. I've found several so far but the last and most important one is still

working. I speak about the 3200/3500 Rpm limiters.

The limiters work for different load ranges. For zero to light loads I've already written new limiters that allow the engine to rev up to 3900 Rpm. I'm working on the full load limiters now.

The ones that limit the top speed to 3200 Rpm under full load...

How long will it take to find those limiters? Belive me, I really dunno. At this point it's not important! For me it's no longer important if I/we will ever make it to the market.

At this point it's between me and the people that wrote the Cummins software. Let's see who is smarter! Me or them???

Probably my words give you a false picture, in reality I think (hope) that I'm really close to the final solution. I could be wrong!

I've been several times before... . :(

Will we ever make it to the market? I sure hope so! But to tell you the complete truth, I don't know.

Today we're working on a nice project. I've build an ECM for ADT that will allow them guys to change memory chips on their own.

I can then simply send the softwares over the www.

That will allow us to test many different softwares in a short time. It will also allow us to custom tune softwares for those highly modifyed trucks.

I't s almost ready...

Marco

Guys,

It has been a long and frustrating journey into the world of the Cummins ECM. Bottom line is that both us and Marco have dumped a huge amount of time and money into doing this. The problem is the payoff. What are you going to be buying? We want to make sure that the end product is so different from anything else, that it is worth the money for you to buy. This is why we are working on some custom units for testing that will allow us to test multiple files in a very short time frame, as opposed to one or two ECM's per month. Once the Rev Limmiter is nailed down, I think we will be very close to having something worthwhile to play with.

Thanks,

Doug

Question for Marco

Is there a bright side to all your efforts for applications in the 3rd generation Ram? Have you looked at that? I also heard from a good Bosche source that the VP-44 is gonna be hard to get soon as they do not have big plans to continue any volume production in the USA.

Is there such a thing as before top dead center or at top dead center or after top dead center for injection? Just curious as to if that applies to an electronic diesel. If there is, what would you say would be the ultimate position for injection for towing?

DC/Cummins/Bosche sure did not stay with the VP-44 application very long... maybe all the failures woke them up to its reliability.

The big question on my mind is will you be able to adapt the 100pin ecm to operate where the 50 pin ecm sits now (so we can have the ability to set high idle like the isb in the f650's)

MARCO have you any info on this??????

Any one have any thoughts??????

now that there's a new motor on the market

will us dorks running the old motor ever see this ecm?

any estimates on cost? availability?
