As TWest says, you may have to compromise a little. I do tire pressure adjustments to keep a decent ride when empty as I would never run any tire that was not Load Range "E" on these trucks. I however do not have a dually as you do so rear pressure adjustments will be more of a PITA. I drop the front down to 65-70lbs and the rears down to 55-60lbs when commuting empty. Increase to 75-80lbs front and rear when towing depending on how much firewood and grandkid stuff that the wife has loaded in. That has been the formula I have used on all 3 Cummins powered trucks that I have owned over the years and seems to work well. I may try the Pirelli's that SteveD is running next time, I just checked the tread design and specs, looks pretty good.

I had a set of Mastercraft CT's on our '05 Silverado...

I would suspect this had more to do with the aggressive nature of the tire (typically requiring more frequent rotation) and the IFS... I've watched highway tires wear out prematurely on both GM IFS and Ford TTB suspensions, I always assumed it was the nature of the beast.



When I ran mud tires on my toys (pre CTD), I rotated every oil change (3,000 miles) to keep them wearing correctly.

For pressure, I've found that 60-65psi in the fronts and 50psi seems to work well for everyday driving... but this will probably vary somewhat for everyone due to different tires and loads.



I had Sears install tires once, they slipped me LR C Michelin's on my 99 2500... although it drove OK, the tires were well loaded even empty. They weren't on but a day before I noticed they weren't LR E, and Sears replaced them with LR Es.



When I bought my 99, they had just installed tires on it... "P"-metric BFG longtrails (basically, car tires). Within 1000 miles, I had them replaced... there was a cup of ground rubber in each one, and I had developed a bad pull to the left that was also caused by the tires.

I'm on my third set of the Matercraft Courser. I averaged 41K on the first two sets and now have 15K on the third with better than 2/3 tread remaining. I only wished they offered an E rated tire in this size . I run 50psi year round at each corner with no wear issue. Been happy with them and will purchase a 4th set when the time comes.

Yea, I wondered if it was just the truck/tire combination, which I will admit is used very hard. But for as many times as I rotated, balanced, and even once had them remounted on a second set of wheels, I would have expected more. I'm certainly not going to try another set again on that particular vehicle.

On a side note, Cooper/MasterCraft were one of the few companies that marketed a 255x85r16 (LR D though). I had a set of Cooper Discovered LTs on my 99 for a while (bought used, in almost new condition, with a set of wheels), they were hands down the absolute best snow tire I have ever had... and I attribute that characteristic to the very narrow profile.



That's one of the only things I don't like about the 3rd gen trucks, limited tire selections for the 17-inch rims.

dually size is even worse to find! starting to find more tires in this size available. Gotta have a E tire with high weight rating, I full time RV, pullin 15K 5er all over the USA. Still listening to the input... ... ..... THANX

I just went through a set of Mastercraft cursers on my o4 Dually. It is a decent tire on a scale of 1-5 I would rate it a 3. 8.
