i cant seem to view your pictures and i am glad you are happy with your choice and so am i

i went with kadell and my truck came out great and i would put thier work up against anybody in the country and i bet i am not dissapointed

you can take all the pictures you want and provide all the paperwork in the world but they have been customizing tractor trailer frames for 30 plus years with no problems so that to me is proof of there work in itself with no question asked period

they will lengthen your frame and give you all new stainless steel brake lines ( with no splices or union fittings) you get a longer balanced drive line and a wiring harness with factory ends on it so there is no cutting/splicing or black tape/connectors in the wiring either

i haul all kinds of stuff with my truck including my camper and a few other things here is my truck

Someday I will have a truck just like that.

You have a sweet looking truck. The megalongbeds are just plain awesome. Something about that red color just sweetens the deal.

181"? The chassis cab offers a 188. 5" wheel base, so why can't you get a MegaChassisCabLongBed??? Just a thought... -Trey

See the attached and look at the bottom for the turning radius comparison. Very interesting. Since it turns tighter than a long bed crew cab SuperDuty, I see no reason that anyone would have trouble getting around in a truck this long. I see the SuperDuty's all over the place where I live and haven't seen one stuck in a tight place yet. You may not be able to park close to the entrance at the mall, but a little walking to where you parked is good for you anyway!

I've found 4 companies that do this mod now. I'm not sure of the quality of the others, but Kadell obviously does nice work. I'm trying to convince the CFO that this has to be our next mod, but when she fires back with the thousands of dollars for another 1. 5 feet of bed space, I realize that I'm going to have to justify it in another way.

I still have my cap off of my '03 long bed that I can't sell and I'd be able to use it on the long bed, so that's now part of the justification. We do road trips out to the Northeast a few times a year and always end up with a full truck on the way back for one reason or another. My dad had some 8 foot flourescent lights that he wanted to give me, but I couldn't get them home under the tonneau cover and keep everything dry. We've even rented a trailer to get some stuff back. I need a long bed!

ur right i have not found a place yet i could not get into even if it meant a little walking to get to the front door

i get a kick out of people that wow i could never drive that in my town and i say to that wow u have never seen a 10 or 18 wheeler in town lol

granted u dont need to parallel park a 10 wheeler but u wont be parallel parking a mega short box either let alone a mega long box lol

really in all honesty i do use my truck as a daily driver and have no issues to date

well i know of a few others that do this job also and i cant say anything good or bad about their work as i have not seen it nor do i care to

all i know ( like i said before) kadell his dad and his grandfather have been doing this stuff for a very long time and have many many projects under their belt in the last 30 plus years so that is all the proof i need of the work they do over there

i actually talked to kadell today about the other companies out there

and he told me that for many different reasons he cant do all the ones out there so more power( very modest as usual) to the others that are doing it but as far as his conversions go he does them the way he knows and feels they need to be done so he can stand behind his work

tell her that its not just about the extra bed length you can fluff it a bit and say the extra towing/weight capacity it also allows you tow a 5th wheel with out the extra cost( again not a lie just a little fluff) of a slider hitch

also even with a slider hitch there is stil la chance of hitting your cab wit ha the trailer

im sure i can think of more lol

awesome truck. . Has any one doen a 8 foot bed dually that has the smaller 6 foot bed dually fenders on it? That would look sweet like a first gen dually I think thats what I would like and it would be easier to reach in the bed etc. . any pics or ideas? any photo shop experts ? one in khaki?

Thanks

Deo

My intentions exactly. I have a 2003 2500 longbox that I have added a dually axle to, thanks to somkejunkie for the trade. I have also modified my bed sides (cut off ~7 inches) so the full box fenders would not work. I would like to use the new short box mega-cab dually fenders. I too think this would make a nice looking original (might I say, one of a kind) truck.

There was someone here that had converted the full box fenders to the mega cab style fenders (He posted pics of the conversion also). I think it was about a month or two ago. I had saved some of the pictures and hopefully they show up below.

Looking at that, I'm not sure it will work on my truck. I've cut down a bit more than that. This one looks like only about 3-4 inches. Mine is down about 7 inches. My notch is a bit more forward too, only about 12 inches back from rear of the cab. I'd like to know how he did his new cap though??? Any idea who this was from? -Trey

Miller R mentioned the chassis cab available with longer wheelbase then a long cab mega cabconversion 181". . mummn the reg cab 5500 4x4 is avail in a 192. 5" wheel base buy one then swap a megacab cab from a wreck on to it and cut 11. 5 inches out of it. . (straight c channel)mummn. . sounds good to me. . you could spec the 5500 as reg cab and for less $ and have slick truck. . air ride the rear and it would be prettyslick. . especially if you got a set of aluminum 19. 5 rims etc. . and 342 gear sets... G56 trans leather heated seats sunroof... khaki paint...

just dreaming out loud,

I'm pretty familar with that company. . they seem to be one of th ebest in the megacab long bed converters ... My idea was to use a 5500 with its bigger brakes, much bigger rear axel ,and straight c channel frame vs the megacabs hydroformed box with dog legs and smaller brakes/ axles etc... orderinag al ong bed mega cab from Doug Smith new with warranty is nice mummn... wonder if he could do the mega cab 5500? much more work involved with a cab swap though...

Thanks

Deo
