My younger brother has a 2007 mega cab that he bought used a couple years ago. Anyhow the rocker panels and cab corners have ended up rusting out bad and he is looking at getting them replaced. According to the body shop the only way to do it is to use a crew cab rocker panel with an extension piece and then also a separate cab corner. It sounds like for a crew cab you can get a full rocker and cab corner going all the way up the rear of the cab, but not for a mega. Has anyone else had this done? Not real confident in the way they are talking about doing it, I think it would rust out again with three pieces welded together like that. It would help if full length rockers were available.
Any other suggestions to prevent it from rusting again? He has only put about 15000 miles on the truck since buying it and he is able to keep it parked some in the winter if he can get by with his car. It is just a lot of money to spend and not have it last until the truck is worn out.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Matt
