Megs Stainless Exhaust Tip

Has anyone purchased the Megs Stainless Exhaust Tip from Geno's Garage. I have'nt received it yet. My understanding is that it uses no clamps, but a tapered interference fit. Any comments?

I purchased one of these three years ago or so from Geno's Garage for my then, stock exhaust system. It's a very high quality, great looking product. I didn't have to tack weld, clamp or screw the tip on, a tight friction fit held it firmly in place.



You will receive installation instructions/tips from Geno's Garage with your Meg's tip that will further explain the process.



BTW, Geno's Garage provides superb customer service... I have been dealing with them since the late spring of '98. Excellent products with unmatched customer service!

i ended up having to add a small amount of high temp RTV to hold it on. used black (had painted my Bully Dog tailpipe black with high temp paint), put it on, let it sit overnite. no problem since. .

fatboy, when you get the tip, Geno's should send you "tips" on installation. i found that on my buly dog 4" pipe, the interference fit was a bit loose. the high tem RTV was the suggestion from Geno's. worked out great.

I have had mine for about 4 months now and it was a tight fit to install. I went ahead and put a small stainless screw in mine from the bottom just for a little added insurance. So far it looks just like the day I installed it.

I slipped mine on my Stan's 4" last spring per the instructions. Worked fine. No RTV, no screws. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I bought one about 2 years ago and called Genos before the install to get their tips on installation. They said to put the tip in the oven for ten minutes clean off the the original exhaust with steel wool and drible on some WD-40 to help it slide into place.

I tried... I really did! It sticks out about 14 inches from stock and really looks goofy. I now pull a very large 5er and with the loooong tip on the exhaust it keeps the soot off the trailer. It is also just peeerfect for giving a sooty smoke cloud right onto an unsuspecting pedestrian during a quick start. Come to think of it, I now kind of like it waaay out there. Unfortunatly, I sometimes forget about it and krunch my shins. I know, I know, memory deficits are best treated by a medical doctor not from the T Dr. :--)

4" PIPES

not all 4 " pipes are created equal... ... ..... i'm sure that comes as no surprise. some 4" pipes are bigger, some difficulty getting it on. if your pipe like mine is a bit on the small side, no problem getting it on. in that instance, a little glue to hold it on... ...

slipped right on and it's still there. gotta clean the soot off though.

I installed today after work. A 10 minute preheat @ 450F, a little WD-40 and it went on like butter. A bead of silicone and a few taps with a mallet and wood. It looks great, extends the stock pipe by 4", but if you want to keep the soot off the rear qtr and bumper than you need to get it out there a little more.
