Message key fob not in truck

Hey everyone
I've read some posts on this issue but I've got a question. This started today getting this message if I open the door it will go off Tried both fobs same thing happened. What do you all think of the chance of both batteries going bad at the same time? I'm not so sure that is what it is. The only thing I've done different is to put a camera on the front and a couple parking sensors in the plate bracket. Both things are connected to the lighter plug by the cup holders any thoughts will help. Has anyone change the battery on their fob and what's the best way to get it apart?

I may not be correct here, but I don't think the batteries have to be good for the truck to detect the fob. I had a problem with one fob and changing the battery did not correct it. Had to replace the fob. The truck sends out a pulse of energy and a passive transducer in the fob replies. That signal is weak and interference may be keeping the truck from receiving it. If the lighter plug you are powering from has a voltage stepdown in it, it could be generating interference. Try it without that plugged in.

Also, I believe there are detectors outside the truck. If your interior detector has failed, opening the door may allow the outside detector to see the fob. Did you disturb any wiring while routing the wires to the things you added? Maybe the inside receiver got unplugged. Another possibility is that opening the door cancels the message because the fob is probably leaving the truck.

You have something strange going on and the aftermarket stuff would be the first suspect. First of all the "key fob has left the vehicle" message in the cluster should not display unless the door is opened. Once the RFH detects the fob inside the vehicle it should not look for it again unless something happens to make it look, like opening the door. If you want to test it out start up the truck, roll down the window, pass the fob to someone outside the car and drive off. No message should be displayed. Open the door and the dinging will start.

Happens in my 2016 every once in a while, also does it in my 2015 Corvette and Porsche. I don't worry about it.

Happens more than you would think. My challenger did it and so does my motherinlaws 1500. It's annoying and the dealer can't figure out why.
