I never thought a mouse nest could be such a problem! While my truck sat parked in my shop for an extended period, some enterprising mouse built a nest in my heater box somewhere.

Several applications of compressed air and shop vacuum have pretty much eliminated the blast of confetti every time I use the defroster, a/c, or heat, but I'm still having a heckuva time dealing with the SMELL!

I bought some dash vent air freshener clips that smell worse, but at least different. I long ago removed the blower fan to reach everything I could while using both the shop vac and the compressed air. And I have no desire at all to remove my rare, zero-cracks, original '96 dash to get better access.

How long can mouse urine and/or dead bodies continue to reek? :{

The smell is now subtle, but still pervasive and offensive. I've actually been taking my dog along everywhere and letting him ride in the cab just to get a change of odors. He's real good at finding new and different dead things to roll in. Add a swim in a pond or river, and he can overpower most anything.

Open the iinside vents, blower on high get a can of lysol what ever smell you like and spray in the intake vents out side below windshield. works for mold too. Hope this helps.

go to a professional cleaning supply company and get some , figures wife hid the bottle now I cant find it... . My place had a 1 gallon yellow jug it is a liquid that you can spray/ apply to fabrics that contains an enzyme to clean up all sorts of nasty odors such as urine vomit blood and the like.....

Mice pee stinks... even after pulling my quad restoration project outta the garage the garage stank for a month

Your mice problem is worse than mine: the rascals pulled the insulation from the firewall/dash area and built a very large nest between the fuel pump and the intake horn. After removal of their home, I have begun a plan of discouraging future home sites by placing some mothballs in the prime locations. The odor isn't too bad; it reminds me of boyhood visits to my grandparents home.

As an FYI to all, I have found that Bounce sheets spread inside the vehicle, and under the hood work extremely well at keeping mice away. They will need replaced every month or so to be effective, but it beats the smell of some of the other products...

Bounce sheets, huh? I'll have to try those. I knew about mothballs, but never had much luck getting the moth to cooperate... :confused: :D

Whereabouts in Iowa are you, Mishkaya? I'm near Cedar Rapids/Iowa City.

bounce sheets are the ticket as strange as that sounds... ... not to rain on your problem but a heads up as I went through this over the last 2 yrs with a a truck gas ranger with a neat hideout in the intake area, once they nest they wizz a certain nest scent in the area and it attracts them forever,

you can knock it down so it dont kill you to be around it but they will be back, screen off how they get to the spot but be warned there going to zero in on the truck anytime its parked and one sniffs the scent.

they got up on the intake of my truck and did the deal, awsome smell it produces after the motor is warmed up!! NOT! simple green makes a superduty cleaner I used, worked pretty good to kill the odor, trapped the buggers but after a few months a new guy would find my truck... there is no known cleaner to take it off forever, even consulted with the pest poeple they told me good luck... ..... sold the truck.

Good to hear that the dryer sheets work (lets see… that's duct tape, Bounce sheets, WD-40, and matches in the intergalactic survival kit). DD remains rodent free at her veritable age BUT wifey's Jeep Commander definitely has stow-aways. Its fun when they nest in the GLOVE BOX!! Now I know why Jeep puts the manual in a denim cover!! All other papers have been shredded. Being a 2006 vehicle its a mystery how they're getting in!!

A couple of years ago, I had mice in my Fifth wheel. I did the bounce sheets all over the place, seems that the mice don't like the smell. But also not wanting to have to deal with this again, I went to Home Depot and bought three of the ultrasonic plug in rodent repellent devices. I plugged one in each room of the trailer and have not had mice since. I think if you are storing the truck for a while, it would not hurt to put one of these in it.
