Anybody on here swap in a midssize truck transmission into there nv4500 equipted truck??? I have been thinking about installed a 5 or 5 speed Fuller or a Spicer 3053a 5 speed overdrive to avoid the weak and unrebuildable nv 4500, there was a guy was doing this swap with a sae 3 or 2 bellhousing but got hung up on the married adapter to the transfer case since there is nothing offered in mid sized truck to swap in and custom adapters must be made up. Anybody got a different transmssion swaped into there truck?? My rebuilder wont install nv 4500 parts due to most being made in china and of low quality and he cant guarantee them, complete rebuild with install was costing $2800 for my 2001 350x4x cummins so the fuller 5 or 6 speed od is a option with the adapter holding me up.

Couldn't one make the mounts and use a divorced NP 205 (I think that was the cast iron bodied, gear driven ones they had in the 70's 4x4's). That would be easier, just custom driveshafts which would be done anyway in this case. Front one may get a little long though. I don't know what the torque spec is on them, but they seemed to be in all the modified, big wheeled trucks running high horse power. That would solve the adapter issue.

Yes, but sanco never did the married conversion but was working on it, dont know what happened, he posted a number for the bearing housing and claims to be working on a married adapter but i guess failed or quit and just runs the set up divorced for some reason???????

In my chevy conversion I used a 6 speed out of a medium duty ford that was bolted up to a 6bt. I am going to use a np205 gear drive divorced transfer case. If you go that route get one from a 70's ford to get one that is divorced with drivers side shafts. If I ever get a vertical mill i'm going to work on an adaptor to put a married case on it, mabey not for this truck, but hopefully for a future conversion.
