I agree Wade, I will definitely have to keep it clean. There are lips on the bottom and will probably use a saw zaw to cut one of the pieces at the front or rear to do that, I will just need to find someone with a welder to tack it back on for me.

Shay

We ground the welds off and bolted the angle iron lip

back on through the wood... . figured we'd have to do it again sometime

Anthony,

Good non-destructive test for slipping is to run it uphill, 50-55MPH in 5th if it is a 6 speed, and then put your foot in it. If the RPM increases without the speedometer keeping up with it, then back off, you are slipping. If you normally tow or carry a heavy load, repeat or do the test with it loaded.

Good luck.

Mark, I`m pretty desent with my MIG. Did all my frame work on the Ranger with it. I`d be happy to help you out if ya can`t find anyone closer.

I think I'm in the early stages of a clutch failure. Looking for opinions. Here is what's happening: if I am on a slight incline and holding the truck with the clutch while waiting for an opening in traffic, it seems to slip or is slow to engage when I finally take off.

I've also noticed that the clutch pedal is almost all the way to the top before the clutch will engage. Could some of you manual guys check to see where the pedal is when the clutch engages?

Thanks in advance, Anthony

Just thought Id pass along a Cummins vs. Duramax encounter. Met a reg. cab LB Duramax at the 4 way stop. I was first so I just cruised along while I Cranked up the TST to 7-3 and took it easy. He never tried to push, so I let him lay to the next stop sign. Since I was feeling froggy, as I took off, it was my intentions to blow a little smoke at him to see if he was game. Instead I blacked him out through 3rd and 4th and proceed to laugh. Next thing I know, I look in the driver side mirror and here he comes, playing dirty, trying to slingshot me from about 20 truck back. As I comminced to flooring it, he made it up to the front of the bed and from then on all I could see where two headlights with that GMC in the middle through the sooty haze behind me in the rear view!! Needless to say, he didnt try it again on the way to town!! Sorry for the long play by play, but Ive been in a gas burner for a week and just had to get a little diesel off my chest!! Oh yeah, went back out to check my X-monitor to see what she read after my hi-speed run--40psi and 1616EGT. Opps

Wade, I looked at the trailer again this weekend and it has one of the lips out of it in the dressing room, I can get the boards in there and then just push them back. Getting the old wood out is no problem either, I tried to pull a couple of them and they broke right out, the wood is soft enough to crumble with your hands. Also spent $2500 on a Gray Mare, Quarter Horse for Shannon to start some barrel racing with, and she fusses about how much my toys cost!!! That hurt the pocket!!!!! Supercab, I think that I will go with your idea of getting the treated wood and putting Thompson's on it with some sand for traction. It will help protect that wood for a longer time. Thanks to all for all the advise though!!!

Joe, I'm really gonna try and call you this week about the tires for the trailer!!!

FWIW, and to anyone interested...

"The Abomination" went to live with a new owner on Saturday. Some KY boys came down, looked her over good, put her on a big goose hooked to an 06 Dually and took her away.

I talked to the buyer this A. M. He's already got it on a rack started fixing issues (bumping timing to 18* this afternoon). He also ordered an HTB2 this morning. Planning for FireRing job and studs if the HG won't hold.

SO... I'm looking to sell my Accord and buy a low mileage 01-03. LONG bed, 4x, QC/CC. If you see one, holla. Not in any hurry.

I thought a fight was gonna break out over who was going to buy it. I listed it last Monday, and the buyer called me about 20 minutes after the posting was approved. He couldn't come look at it until Saturday, and I took probably 60 calls about it during that 5 day period. Didn't know it'd have that much interest. The ad had a laundry list of the issues with the truck, and I made him look at every one before he took it away.

Sounds like you did it right. Better to show them all the problems now then have them show up later and cause problems.

Anyway, I'm glad you got out from under it. I know it was giving you fits. I think I'm about to that point with my little Isuzu right now. Parts availability is about to kill me, and I'm kind of overwhelmed by everything that I think needs to be done to that little truck. I had thought about just fixing up the interior and putting it back on ebay to see if I could get my money back out of it.

Shay, make sure you treat both sides of the wood and the ends, especially since its going in a horse trailer that you`ll be washing out quite a bit.

;) of course I will!!! Did you know that horse poop will hold it's weight in water? Just some useless knowledge for you all!!! I had already planned on doing that though, thanks for reminding me!!!

Andy, I know that you are glad to get rid of all the headaches it seems like you have had with that truck. I'll keep my eyes open for you as well. You prefer a manual or auto, what other bells and whistles you want? Let us know.

I loved the other one, just not mechanically adept enough to get it where it needed to be, plus no patience, and no money. :)

SLT or better. No pref on the transmission. What I listed above is all that really matters.

Doggone... or Truckgone in Andy's case. Well, he tried to love a p-pump! :p

I'll holler when I sees one. OH wait, if Lawrence still wants to sell his--it's a clean 96 auto with matching camper shell... and I don't think it drips as much as mine. :-laf

I had a Duramin lined up beside me the other day at a redlight--I think he gave up when my tires broke loose. :p

So then I had a loud motorcycle pass me on a straight road Saturday--and I thought what the hey and nailed it. I gained on the bike up to 100 when I let off. :-laf (to be fair he had a passenger which fouled up his power/weight ratio, but made it double embarrassing)

Anybody interested in a dark green bed shell for a shortbed? A co-worker of mine has one, but sold his truck (98 24V) so he's trying to sell it. $350 and its in really good shape.

work # is 615-452-9411 ask for Adam Grace. ;)

Andy, I bought some hay for my horses tonight and the guy I got it from said he is selling his 01 2500. It's got about 104,XXX on it, but he is the original owner, 5 SPD, 4X4, reg cab, white, SLT, nice looking, but it was dark so it was hard to tell. He did tell me that it has a couple of small issues. Wrecked on the passenger back wheel well, not to noticeable now, and a hay roll hit him in the front bumper and broke one of the plastic "keepers" (for lack of a better word) and he never got another to replace it. He also said he just redid the whole front end cause he had a ball joint go bad on him. Let me know if you are interested. He wants to sell it to get a 3500. Let me know and I will give you his number...

Shay

Good looking out Shay. I'm really looking for a QC or CC, preferably with less than 75k. I'm also crossing my fingers for it to have a new VP too. The whole thing is probably a pipe dream, but I'm in no hurry.
