Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

I came through, or tryed to come through, Charlotte to pick up a guys bike this afternoon that was damaged in the tornado and it looked like a war zone. They wouldn't let me in there where the bike was. Joe, do you live up that way? How's the shop?

Mark did you get any damage?

Wade, ya'll had some rough stuff, too. Everything OK?

We had golfball size hail at the shop on the south side of Dickson. It rained hard and the wind blew a little but that was it. No problems at home either.

Scott

Gallatin got demolised in several places. Multiple mobile homes and houses were leveled and several people were killed. :(

I got caught in the path of a tornado in Goodletsville yesterday coming back from Franklin in a company truck. Before I could turn around or get out of there it was on top of me.  :(

Luckily it just beat the truck up a little (no visable damaged) and scared the "you know what" outta me. I got back to the shop and through the keys at the boss and told him I was done for the day.

Ashely, Painters is still standing... . I was there earlier today... he got about 5 seconds of video of the tornado that ripped through the Kangaroo and the mobile home park behind it at the 109/Airport Rd. intersection then when he realized it was headed his way he hightailed it home.

Luckily my fiance's parents house wasn't hit, it went around it. Her brothers house about 8-10 miles away was luckily missed also. 3-4 blocks down from his house in his subdivision though off Nichols lane 4 homes were leveled. though. :(

Her family is all ok and nothings hurt... . but that can't be said for everyone. :(

i have a friend with a 2003 dodge. everytime he stops the engine won't idle right. the rpm does not drop just stays at about 1300 rpm. after 30 seconds it might drop but not all the time. any ideas what that could be?

It might be an electrical sensor of some type? Tell him to take it back to the dealer it should still be under warrenty unless he's a hot shot driver with a ton of miles.

This reminds me I saw Andy's old 3rd Gen in Franklin, TN this past week. It passed me on Franklin Rd a few miles up from the Mack Hatcher Intersection.

his truck has 208000 miles on it. so no more warranty.

 :--) In just 3 years?!? That's nuts!

Well the only way he's probably going to figure it out is to hook it up to a diagnostic computer. So he's either going to have to go to a dealership or a trusted mechanic shop with a scan tool.

yeah just in 3 years. he likes to break in the cummins engine. he actually uses his truck for his job.

he went to a dealer and the only thing they found was that his clutch on his fan was bad. they fixed that but it didn't help the idle problem.

Been to the doctor.

Sometime during the re-tapping of the block, I overtorqued my lower back, which eventually involved the sciatic nerve and causes a good bit of discomfort. Then on Friday I had to go back into the RF wheel bearings of the 24v and managed to drop the caliper (resting on the upper control arm) onto my kneecap. :{  And I compounded the deal by running around on a cane spotting weather as most NWS-trained weather spotters are supposed to do in the face of the storm.

So now-after various treatments and lots of alcohol and pain killers-, I've put myself on crutches--better on the back and am bracing the knee with ice and heat applications. And massagers and hot soaks and stretching. Hell, Cheryl is driving me around today.

And waiting. It's supposed to clear up with time.

Did accupuncture yesterday. The knee pain went away until 1 or 2 am--an then I had to take a pill. Then it woke me up again... repeat.

The knee has been injured before, but I've never had pain like this. It goes from my lumbar area, through the hip and down to the knee OR the knee just throbs like a muther. BUT there is no pain at ALL in the knee (back kicks in then) when walking--but walking all gimpy-like ain't helping. I'm going to try crutching it for a day or two.

No pain at all anywhere when on the bike.

Don't mean to whine and complain, but that's just the way it is right now. I tried to position myself so that I could do some port work on the head and such Saturday, but I couldn't get away from the pain.

So I'm just looking at the truck. Got the overhead creeper a couple of days late. I'll get better. Then I'll fix a truck or two.

Finished the taxes. Who's got a 4" turbo and downpipe they ain't using? :D

Timing? Well, I couldn't stop myself. The overhead creeper was in place as were dial indicators on the #1 piston, and #1 DV. The barring tool was in place too. So all I did was crawl up there and crank the engine to and fro.

6. 5mm lift at TDC. The chart I have stops at 5. 6. Anybody want to guess what 6. 5 approximates?

Will be going back with 5. 6 +/- 0. 1mm!

Maybe that had something to do with the gasket turning loose at 45psi.

Hey guys, is there room for one more Ram nut in Nashville and on this particular thread? My lovely wife and I sold our house here in NC and are moving that way in 2 weeks from tomorrow, Lord willin'.

I'm really looking forward to being in an area that has more fellow TDR guys to hang out with and compete with. Although I think what's really gonna happen is I'll just have more pressure and ideas to help spend even more money! :p Oh well, we all live only once! Might as well have as much good fun as we can..... :-laf

Looks like 6. 5mm lift is 20. 5*. Ouch - yep, that might have had something to do with that head gasket problem.

Old smokey's sitting on about 24* now, run 27* for a while, even tried 40* :D Didn't work to well, but she'd turn some R's!

NC looses 1, TN gains 1

Hawkeye,

2 items, 1st you have a straight drive, that's nice. 2nd the MID-TN gang is a great group, active and it seems in constant communication and willing to help.

Hey Andy, how come you let him in for free and I had to slip ya a pair of Andrew Jacksons to get my card signed?

What that? Gary got the bidness? Yall go easy on them boys from across the hills. :-laf

Well, I should have checked the timing. Chris Rudd was quite honest in his telling me that the timing was supposed to be _around_ 16 degrees. I didn't think it would be that far off.

So when you get a new 12v. Check the pin, timing, change all fluids, and torque the head. Then fix all the little stuff.

Where'd you get that number Hans? The chart I have isn't linear and I haven't plotted the curve yet. Well, okay I just ran the numbers. Seems that . 09 or . 10 make . 5 degree increments until you get to the "piers" number for 16. 0 which is a . 15 increment. If I throw that one out, it is linear. Is that what folks do for timing numbers over 16 or lift over 5. 6mm?
