P0216 Code

Hey guys - a buddy of mine had a LP replaced less than 100 miles ago and now his truck is having trouble starting and he says it wants to surge under acceleration. He says if feels low on power too.

I scanned for codes today and the P0216 showed up. :(

But before he drops nearly a grand on a VP44, has anyone else heard of anything that could be causing the problems he is having coupled with the 0216 code? Anything I've ever heard says just to replace the VP when that code shows up but you never know... I've read about guys having the code on here with no other symptoms at all and their VP is still going.

hans, it doesnt sound good for him. 99% of the time replacing the vp is the only thing that will fix it. he really should invest in a fp guage. i had 3 lp go down in 46k miles on my 01.

Hans

I will post the numbers in the morning when i get to work, if you decide to use one of the shops in that area i can run it over to them one day while at work and bring it back that evening, if you want.

Wade don't worry about Lafayette unless you just want to watch.

$70 to pull. $50 one time fee for non-KOTTPA members + $20 hook fee.  :-{} #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%!

They are going to ruin the one good local pull we have left. I'm going to go tires & weights ready, but I won't pull at more than $25 hook fee.

Hans

Gotta PAY to PLAY! :-laf

I gots other stuff I need to do anyhoo. I'm going to try the BuckShots. Joe can git them too and they're a bit cheaper than the Coopers.

Mooretown pull is June 3. Haven't checked on the safety regs yet. The sled owner is the guy to talk to. Jack is his name. Probably get contact info at the MTPA site if'n anybody is interested.

Hey guys, check out my thread I posted up in the Southeast region. It is about a truck pull coming up on May 26th & 27th. I know alot of you guys are getting into the pulling mood and this is a lot of fun here. It's got a website posted so that you can go check it out.

I have no connections with this at all besides it being in my town. I just want to see some of you guys out there having fun and showing people what our trucks can do. Let me know guys!

I doubt there will be any of the drunk redneck's (my friends) pulling for braggin rights either. There nothing like telling the drunk guy "I bet your truck wouldn't make it half way down the track. " :-laf

Does anyone have any use or want a Westin Bull Bar that will fit the 3rd gen trucks? I have one in stainless that is collecting dust in the garage because I decided not to put it on my truck. The bar is perfect and needs a home.

I hate to post like this on here, but I figured I would rather let you all get a chance with it before I sell it to some stranger. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well I heard, from a reliable source, that Mike and Glenn Stoner have added the kill switch and "balancer" shield so they can pull at MTPA events. And that they're looking for somebody to beat.

Mooretown is June 3 and in my backyard. So I suppose I'll be doing a little work on the green thing and giving it a go that night.

Rules? Well, I'm looking into that. I'll report back after I talk with Jack Reed, the sled operator. He has the last word in who hooks to his sled.

Kick it around.

Go get 'em guys! If they won't let you pull again, we'll just party on the sidelines like last year! :-laf

If all I have to have is a H-B shield (metal plate) and a kill switch... by June 3rd..... well I guess I can handle that. ;)

Hey Gapper..... any chance of bringing 'Ol Smokey out to play also? Oo.

Harmonic Dampener shield must prevent HD from going forward or downward if it or the crankshaft breaks.

So I'm thinking a flat plate across the bottom with a piece sticking up, in front of it.

That and a kill switch.

I checked with Jack Reed and he said that'll do. Now to get to work on that stuff. :p

Keep in touch with me on what you do. ;)

if you really want to beat the stoners. better get some nos. lol. they came down to michigan city, ms last fall for a pull and one of them caught a turbo on fire from over use of the nitrous. cold water on hot turbo, but he did drive off in it. getting real close for my truck to be pull ready. mike has already made a pass with his truck

Hey nick, Can Ol Smokey take em? She didn't make but 498hp/9xxtq on the dyno, but you, mike, and many others have already proved pulling trucks don't work on the dyno! :D HP and tq both looked like a upside down V on the dyno, I don't think she got loaded up enough, only 3,000lb load.
