Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

OVerboost is prolly from a box of some sort. Nothing to look out for as far as I know. But then it's been a while since I had my 3rd gen.

Anybody every done a vacuum pump swap? I did mine today... That was a MUTHA of a job!! Seems to be working though... so I'm happy.

I also found the dreaded "53" stamped on my block. :(

Andy, just curious but why didn't you just put new seals in the pump? I picked up a seal kit for $70 @ Miracle Chyrsler Thursday, and paid a buddy with experience to do it for me and had less than $200 in the whole ordeal.

Oh I did. Feger had an extra pump that I rebuilt. The pump rebuild was simple. The replacement was a bona-fide PITA.

I've got extra seals to rebuild the pump that came out of my truck. It'll go on his shelf for the next time his starts leaking.

It's funny that you were able to buy a seal kit from the dealer. The factory service manual says the vacuum pump is not serviceable. I got my kit from Pete Gould at FixinRams.com. I can really recommend him. Nice guy and parts were as advertised. ~$65 shipped to my door.

Yeah Chris Newsome @ Cedar City said most dealers don't know how to look it up, its not a "rebuild kit" its just the case to pump gasket, pump to PS seal, and two O-rings. However when I called my parts guys @ Miracle he knew exactly what I was talking about. Really great parts guys I have @ Miracle here in Gallatin!! ;)

I had a Exon Valdise going on under my truck... . thought my pump had been leaking for some time... . didn't realize it had gotten that bad. Now I just have to find time to crawl under there and give everything a good wash off so I can make sure my front cover/balancer seal aren't leaking. The performance stuff has been put on the back burner for a while for me, now I'm wanting to get other things addressed. :-laf Like both my front and rear T-case seals need to be replaced as well. I would just like to part my truck some where without it marking its territory. Oh well what do you expect for a truck that's knocking on 200K miles. ;)

I have found an 04 QC 4x4 auto drw "flatty", with 89000 on the ticker for a verry low price. Its such a good deal i think somebody is trying to get rid of problem truck.

What are some of the problems the 3rd gens have? I have crawled around under the truck no leaks. No paint lines that i can see. How is the auto in the 04? I also checked the codes and it had one code 0234 turbo overboost.

I have't kept up with the 3rd gens so i don't really know what to look out for.

We have 3 3rd Gens (2 03's, and a 04. 5) and we have replaced ujoints in the rear driveshafts repeated times, u joints in the front steering kuckle, my truck has has two powersteering pumps put on and the rear ring and pinion has been replaced. Dont forget balljoints. Oh yeah, dad's 03 yakked the waterpump on Monday morning, the bearings just fell out of it and it slung the belt off. These are just a few of the things wrong with our trucks, but most of them are things that just happen, you dont get many warning signs

Everybody I'd like you to meet Diesel (Dee-zul). Got him yesterday and he's awesome! Oo. :) With a little training you'll start seeing him at events with me! :D

Have patience. I've been lucky with the first 3 I raised. This last one is getting to be too much. Testicles may have to go. I've been training per New Skete Monks and local obedience classes (3x) and what I can learn from Cesar Milan's TV show. Have the Milan book for Christmas. Getting it early so maybe I don't kill the little one. He has issues with authority.

I named a cat "Turbo". Gave him away but he still carries the name and has a 5. 9 in the driveway. He would catch low-flying birds, BAD cat! :-laf

You gotta diaper on that thing?

Mechanic buddy of mine used to put a sponge at a certain place on a particular Volvo model (proper repair was either impractical or too $$$), then check/change the sponge at oil changes. Clean floor for the customer and if the guy takes the car somewhere else---bammo, it starts messing up the floor again. :D

I thinks mine is seeping around the front seal, pump cover, lift pump, afc, and rear seal. Valve covers are good. ;)

Yeah Scott do ya?! :--)

So far so good! I still gotta get the nose end of the truck up in the air so I can pressure wash the thing really good and see if I have any leaks else where. Probably be a Saturday deal since I'm not getting home till after dark these days. :-laf

As much as I don't like lack of snow around the holiday season, I'm thankful for the work we've had these last two weeks that's kept us busy. :D

Depends... ... ... ... ... ;) :-laf :-laf

I didn't say it didn't leak, just that it doesn't leak enough to tell where I park. I still have something leaking around the VacPump/PS pump. I've replaced the seal between the two twice now.

Scott mine was leaking at the BIG o-ring seal on the vaccum pump. Replaced all three seals while apart, and applied additional gasket sealer to large case o-ring to make sure it doesn' leak.

I was noticing today when leaving work that FINALLY you can't tell where I was parked after I leave. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Mine seems to be leaking between the two pumps still. It could be the PS pump, but I can't imagine the main seal still leaking. The first time I replaced it, all I replaced was the main seal using a spacer to move where it sealed on the shaft. The second time I used the whole kit with the o-rings from fixinrams. Still has quite a bit of oil in the area.
