Is it purely due to a better atomization of the fuel? If so, how can you end up with more power than stock (which takes more fuel), but better mileage? Are the stock injectors that bad?

Of course, this assumes you can keep your foot out of the new found power ;)

You nailed it right there. If you're using this extra power your milage drops. If you're highway cruising then the optimized spray angles and atomization of the new nozzles can show you a gain.

I put the MACH 1. 6 injectors from O'Poole and got a great boost in power and around 2 more mpg's!!! Highly recomend it as well as his RASP fuel pump kit... 12 to 15 psi and any power setting... plus he's a great guy to deal with.

With the 24 valve motors, the stock injectors are very small for emissions reasons. Going to a little bigger injector helps mileage because the required ( squirt ) at highway speeds is delivered quicker. This is while the piston is still near TDC where it is more efficient. Delivering the required fuel late, or as the piston is going down just makes smoke and heat in the manifold.

Got the exact same stuff from Olee, and yes, he is a great guy to deal with!! Can't wait to get them installed, the 1. 6's are supposed to be the heat with the Catcher for towing :D

Don keeps finding ways to tweak a little more from his sticks. I had 1. 5's & thought they were great. Now I'm up to 3. 8's & lots more heat :-laf Actually the egt's are not much higher but go pedal response is awesome. :D
