The OP is nothing more than a Trol, don't get to excited about his posts

You mean he's one of those guys who hides under a bridge and tries to eat billy goats (gruff) when they cross over to greener pastures ?:-laf

ok just trying to get some intell and trying to keep things on topic and i guess this makes me a TROL yeah ok! this isn't the only post one this website plenty of others where you can talk about DEF and DURAMAXESand each others wives for all i care just take the time to find the right post. didn't want to aleinate half of you. sorry i was harsh.

I have had time now to put a few miles on my 2011, 2500 4x4. On my first towing trip I averaged about 13 MPG, my next tow trip was a little longer (800 miles round trip) I averaged in the high 13,s. These were running in the low 70,s on hilly interstate. This past week ,we ran our first long trip empty (480 miles round trip) I averaged 17. 66 running low 70,s half the time and the other half was 40 to 60. Yes, I hand calced all these #,s. I only tow about 7K on these trips. Overall I really like this truck. It is light years ahead of my old 99. I have learned that how I drive it makes a big difference in the milage. I need to be easy on acceleration. Sorry for the long post, but these are my real #,s. I see 15-16 on dailly 30 mile round trips to work.

here are my numbers
first speedometer corrected for larger tires with gps.
the last 900 miles before deletes my average was right at 12. 6 mpg.
since deletes 16. 5 mpg. that's a mix of city and hwy driving, about 60 percent city.
turn the lie-o-meter off, you'll live longer.

I was fueling at Dunnigan, CA today and a guy asked what I was getting for mileage towing. I had the 5er hooked. I said 9. 5 average with almost 28,000# combined. He looked at me kind of funny and said he was getting 21mpg. I said solo, no towing. I said small trailer, no same as yours. I rolled my eyes and said yea right! Same bone head that parked his car in the rv fueling lane and went inside to pay. Then he told me how I could do all these deletes and programmers and so on. I told him I knew about those but wanted to keep the warranty. He said his was a 07. I did not waste my time telling him his lie-O-meter was wrong.

I have a long tow south coming up. I expect high 13's. We will see. I have also learned I can't drive this truck like I did my 99. Mileage would be even worse if I did.

It is worth considering that my 2011 is a much more comfortable truck that my 2005 5. 9 was, and although my fuel mileage has indeed dropped I now have a lot more power with 350/800. I love my 6. 7!

I am on a trip at this time, I will be back home in 2 weeks, this trip is 9000 miles 99% with the 14000 pound 5th wheel in tow, 1 % empty, I have retained every fuel receipt and will computer the MPG and post it if anyone is interested a coast to coast trip should be a very good average.

Just did mine, 2600 miles 10K 30' fifth wheel, 10. 5MPG, that was norther California to Durango co. and back.

My truck has the 3. 73's, but I tow lite. I will only be pulling my GTX on the 20 foot trailer. So our trucks weigh what 8000 lbs. ? Plus 7000 pounds in tow.

Just if anyone really wants to know, 9100 mile coast to coast, all sorts of roads, Interstate speeds I try for 55-65 mph, the Rig is 22,745 pounds combined, the hand calculated MPG was 10. 61, the EVIC says 10. 6, I set the trip odo when we departed, and reset the EVIC at the same time, so now I know the EVIC is correct, my old 2005 was way off, this one is good, one more thing, I took off with a fresh oil change, after the 9100 mile trip, I unhooked the 5th wheel, two blocks I get the oil change message, since I do my own, and it made no extra oil, what good timing, this is a real great truck for towing, that's all I can say, 18000 miles, never been to the Dealer for anything.

That is really good news. I assumed the oil change light would have came on at 7,500 miles. My EVIC is pretty darn close, sometimes a touch high. So your load being 5K less than mine and my 3:42 gears I can't complain about 9. 5 up and down I-5.

I've turned 221,000 on my 2011,. my fuel milage has improved since new. I pull 34-36 ft RV New 5th wheels mostly, (delivery)
As for lying? I have no reason to lie here. I'm loaded 1/2 the time and I get 10-13mpg, depends on the wind, in severe wind I have gotten as low as 9mpg. Homeward bound I get 20mpg, empty at 70mph. Of course I did the complete deletes. But I learned one lesson, At 1st I pulled my loads on mild setting with turbo tune, as high as 36psi boost. I ended up with a blown head gasket. So now I use no turbo tune and when I have to pull hard, like up a long hill or mountain I use factory setting w/no extra power. For me the deletes have paid for themselves a couple times over. I have hand calculated numerious times. The display reading will only keep track of the last 400-600 miles mpg.

2011 SLT diesel 2wd duelly, 68RFE, 373 rears
Full DPF deletes with H&S Performance mini-max chip
firestone airbags/ on the fly adjust
woodhouse dodge sleeper berth
110 gallon extra aluminum fuel tank
RV hauler

Wow, 221k on a 2011! Sounds like that truck has been busy!

These numbers seem to coincide with my brand new 2012 5500. Picked it up with 18 miles on the odometer. Weighs around 14,000 with bed, has auto and 4. 88 gears. Turns around 2,000 rpm at 60-65. Drove 400 miles, all highway, 65-70 mph and got 10. 7 hand calculated. Keeping speeds under 65 netted 11. 5. Towing a very light flatbed on the return 400 mile trip at 65-70 dropped me to 9. 8.
