with more storage the spikes in pressure from the cp3 are taking out. has anyone done a dyno that cannot lie i am very interested in this matter because i deal with a lot of pumps and compressors but on a much larger scale. and modded pumps surge even more dual cp3 give much better results

TWest. . you are correct, the only gain from a larger rail is additional flow. That said, there needs to be constant pressure behind it. Those of you who are familiar with fluid systems, how about a 23000 psi accumulator system..... Now that would store and distribute fuel at pressure should the CP3 have a pause... .

Think about the accumulator taking the waves out of the CP3 delivery... .

MMMMMMM... . food for thought

Does diesel fuel compress? No, so what ever is leaving the rail has to be replaced with the same amount form the CP3. The rail is not like a air tank that has storage because fuel can not compress. The only thing that I can see the modded rail doing is increase flow. Cause if you are draining your rail pressure, and you mod your rail your, and do nothing else, your saying that it will support more HP?

Hey Snox. . I will have the rest of the info but all liquids to compress under extream pressure. Here is an artical or answer should I say that I looked up and I need to dig up my physics book. If I still have it but here is a small read from physlink.com:

"The answer is yes, You can compress water, or almost any fuild. However, it requires a great deal of pressure to accomplish a little compression. For that reason, liquids and solids are sometimes referred to as being incompressible.

To understand what happens, remember that all matter is composed of a collection of atoms. Even though matter seems to be very solid, in actuality, the atoms are relative far apart, and matter is mostly empty space. However, due to the forces between the molecules, they strongly resist being pressed closer together, but they can be. You probably have experienced compressing something as hard as steel. Have you ever bounced a steel ball bearing off a sidewalk? When you do that, the 'bounce' is due to compressing the steel ball, just a tiny little spot that comes into contact with the sidewalk. It compresses and then springs back, causing the bounce.

The water at the bottom of the ocean is compressed by the weight of the water above it all the way to the surface, and is more dense than the water at the surface.

A consequence of compressing a fluid is that the viscosity, that is the resistance of the fluid to flow, also increases as the density increases. This is because the atoms are forced closer together, and thus cannot slip by each other as easily as they can when the fluid is at atmospheric pressure.

The bottom part of the article above should help explain how a modded rail works. I will be testing a few rails on a few trucks myself in the comming wks but I know a few of my friends in the business that have seen 20-25 hp on an a stock truck. On some heavily modded trucks, some have said 60 plus HP increase. I will tell you guys after my truck is dynoed in a few wks and after some changes. I will do a before and after run.

Also, I used to work for a diesel injection shop a few years ago and read an extensive artical on diesel fuel and how it compresses even in small rotary pumps with a 1/3 of the pressure found in the current CR motors. That particular issue also had an article on how a supersonic sound wave is created every time the injectors on HPCR systems fires under high pressure. Man do I wish I still had that magazine because it was in a publication that came out every 3 months or so for the industry. Always a great read!

I will try to find the actual compression values for diesel fuel but I will need a bit of time.

WE installed T's fuel rail, vulcan big line kit, and duel feed line on boomchadda's truck and it definitely made a difference. Haven't dynoed it yet but a noticable difference in acceleration throughout entire rpm.
