Looking at spending $1400. 00 on new mods. Should I buy some injectors(Don M's, Edge, Bullydog ect... ) switch out fuel box or add a smarty! I have no plans in the future to change the turbo, so I'm planning on sticking with the HX-35. On fuel delivery, I relocated the LP on the frame rail and installed a Vulcan Big Line kit. Don't have to worry about any transmission problems... but don't really want a lot of smoke issues either. 90% of the time the truck doesn't see a trailer, but I do haul a car trailer with a 56 chevy and a cargo that adds 5k to my added weight. Looking at my sig, I do have the Banks stuff, which has been very reliable, but I think I can get more power and reliabilty with other stuff. Thanks for the advise. Trying to stay up with the CR's, 6. 4's and Duramax's.

I think you could do well with new injectors and a Smarty with 1400 bucks. Just shop around for the injectors, should be able to get a good deal. Not sure what all the Big Hoss has included though. You should be fine with your stock turbo, but you could always upgrade it anyway instead of the injectors and Smarty prepare it for future mods. Just my $. 02

JTruelove,

Yep, Smarty and DonM's will do you well, maybe a little over your budget. Sell the Banks stuff to make up the difference.

You will have one heck of a driving/towing rig at that point. Just add a TST later on for even more fun!

Godspeed,
Trent

I have the intake, programmer, 4" exhaust, quick spool turbo with big head waste gate and gauges. Tell me about the exhaust manifold... was it easy? Heard bad things about the 3 piece install on this website. Thanks for the advise

Wanting to know what sixe sticks without alot of smoke and careful eye on the egt's. Say the Don M 2's 105 hp??? What is a TST? Programmer... Reliable... cost???

Mach 1. 6's would give you nice power increase and fuel economy without a lot of smoke when towing. Mach 2's a little more power for more $.

TST is the hot fueling box to stack on Smarty as Smarty does the timing and gives down low grunt and the TST pours on the power in mid and high ranges. This combo will push the limits of your HX35 but Smarty will keep egt's okay except on higher settings of TST. The reliability? Excellent!

Godspeed,
Trent

If you are trying to build a truck that is fast..... a Edge Drag comp or TST comp will give you the most top speed. A smarty is for low end grunt & man does it have low end. A set of injectors with smarty = 1 bad towing machine. My brother has a set of RV275 injectors & Smarty on his 98. 5 truck & it is a fun driver... . very responsive & smooth. The Mach 1. 6 injectors & smarty would be a great choice for you.

I have 4k miles on my new engine..... changed oil at 500 miles, 2000 miles & next one will be @ 6000 miles for proper breakin. Glad to see you got it back together... . just treat it right. It's nice having a fresh start, but make sure that you break it in hard... . tow as much as possible.

I dont have anything to tow.

Is there any other way I can break it in, possibly driving up steep grades/hills?

and thanks for our feedback also.

Which Big Hoss do you have, the one that only taps the pump wire or the one that plugs into the canbus like an EZ?

Run it hard... . don't baby it. Cummins told me to tow right away & run it hard when a trailer isn't on the back. I hooked a trailer to it in the parking lot when I went to pick my truck up. :-laf

Got my vote on don's 1. 6's or 2's with a smarty. I've heard that the 1. 6's are awesome towing injectors and the smarty will give you the down low grunt;)
