Sorry if this is too much at once. I'm trying to get everything together before I tear anything down.

Throwout bearing- Will any one from NAPA or the like be good enough? Any brand better than the other. Wish I could buy a greasable one like the bigger stuff has.

Pilot bushing- can this be replaced without removing the clutch? I'm guessing not. We haven't got into this in class yet. Kevlar or Oilite?

I got my rebuild kit from ST&G last night, and it suprised me that the synchros were for a NV3500:confused: And it came with 2, 1-2 synchro rings. Wouldn't there be a 3-4 also? Just wondering.

Would it hurt to FILL that sucker up with 5 qts of 5w-30? or would that be too much? Thanks.

Steve

Steve, I'll answer the last ?, I have been running 5 qts of 5w30 and havent noticed any change, ill-affect anything compared to running 4. 5 qts. 3. 5 qts being factory fill or fill hole capacity. Bill

Steve, I'll answer the pilot bushing. No you can't change it without dissambling the clutch. The brass bushing is far superior to the bearing in my opinion as you will see a lot of failures in the bearings in second gens. The brass may get sloppy, but wont seize the input shaft. The oilite is impregnated in the brass. There are some easy ways to get the old one out. One is to screw a grease fitting in the center and grease with a gun, comes right out. Others available too. Thanks guys,

Sorry forgot one.

Where can you get transmission/transfer case mounts? I'm not sure if this is the right thing, but NAPA has Upper-L/R mounts and Lower L/R mounts? I think they were about 12-13 bucks for upper or lower.

Thanks, Steve

I was wondering about the shims for setting the bearing preloads? The kit didn't come with any. And did any of you guys re-use the snap-rings? It would be nice to use new ones.

Thanks, Steve
