Competition Ouch - expensive day

Off Roading Running without the sway bar

Thunder in Muncie this year was a great event to say the least.

Attendance along with the weather was great.

It is always great to see a half mile or mile long line to get into a event especially when they are all Diesel pickup's!

Friday night at Lee's in was a blast, alot of familiar faces along with MUNCIE GONE WILD!!

There was the burnout show. This included Kirk Kannard losing a rear end in his Dually equipped with huge drag slicks.

Multiple burnouts from other smoker trucks, along with law enforcement making their presence to calm the shenanigans for the time being.

The highlight was Jake Scharosch of ATS Diesel doing a Piers style burnout in front of Lee's Inn. This included spinning in circles and laying monster smoke out.

To top this all off. Jake not concerned with fuel mileage began to accelerate down the street shooting a 1' flame out of his full exhaust pipe for about 300 feet.

Saturday started early with the qualifying sled pulls.

The top 25 trucks out of the street class qualifications were allowed to pull in the event finals.

I don't have a list of who pulled what footage.

It seemed that almost every Duramax that ran would make almost a full pull.

Mostly Cummins trucks as usual made it to the finals... Even one Ford made it.

I ended up pulling 282' in the qual's which was about 15' short of making the night time pull.

The Dyno... . Well I didnt watch a single dyno run.

I was busy running around with my head cutoff for the pulls.

Many vendors were present... .

ATS Diesel Performance, TST products, Scheid Diesel, Edge Products, Haisley Machine, Direct Injection, DPP, BD Power, Piers Diesel Research, North West Customs, TS Performance etc, Garmons Diesel Performance, David Dunbar Dynojet etc.

Sundays race was nice, once again the dyno was running along with some very fast trucks.

I witnessed a practice race between 2 of the fastest Cummins trucks around. One was one of the Garmon Diesel Performance 12v's the other was the TS performance 24v.

Both of these trucks ran in the 11's if I remember correctly.

One word FAST!!!

The Cummins Diesel/Scott Bentz Dragster ran low 9's (and broke into the 8's!) if memory serves right... . AWESOME!

Many familiar faces and friends at Muncie.

Good to see all of you!!!

Thanks to Eric Mcbride and DieselSport Promotions for the great event.

MUNCIE

justin pretty well summed everything up. It was great to finally put some faces with the names of all the great people here on the tdr. now how many days till we get to do this again:D :D

I had a blast!!!

Sorry I missed you this year Justin, I wanted to check out your new ride. It was nice to see a great run out of Haisley's new truck "Rock Hard Ram". It did great for it's first pull. One of the highlights of the pull for me was when the rookie drivers came back around and started to do some burnouts in the loose dirt. I was down at the far end of the track, and it looked like the people near the starting line(in the stands), got a serious dusting:-laf :-laf . Can't wait 'till the Scheid diesel Extravaganza. Oo.

Sign me up for MORE!

vendors ... trucks ... burnouts ... cops ... front desk clerks in high top leather boots !!!! ... leaving with your truck faster then when you showed up ... being broke 'till payday ... the Cummins flag hoisted high at Lee's Inn (good job whoever you are) ... a twin turbo diesel lawn mower (from WV) runnin' down the road with smoke pourin' from the stack!!!

doesn't get any better with your clothes on!

let's do it again next weekend

This was my first experience at TiM and I had a blast! Got to Dyno my truck for the first time ever ( 444 HP/958 TQ:cool: ) This was the first time I've ever seen so many diesel trucks in one place. Aside from getting totally lost in downtown Muncie, a busted windshield from a kicked up rock (from a powerjoke) on Rt. 70, and big dent in the front of my camper from a runaway trailer truck tire (also on Rt. 70) that left a tire print up the front of the camper:--) , it was Awesome! Hope to be back next year:D

Muncie was a lot of fun as expected, How could it not be???

I would like to thank the people that graciously donated the rubber off there tires for our amusement at Lee's Inn, that was fun to watch.

A great show! Much bigger than last year.

I also met a few new faces, to match with names now.

The parties at Lee's Inn were excellent.

It will take all day to get my truck cleaned out and ready for work. !

Thanks to all for a great show.

muncie

It was my first time in Muncie for TiM. It was awsome. Scheid kicked but and Haisley put on a show to. Muncie was great and I just hope that Scheid Diesel Extravaganza will be just as good with a huge turnout. Nothing better than seeing hundreds of diesels invade your hometown!

Scheids event will be great.

Their event is right there on the scale with Muncie.

People that are in doubt of coming to these events... YOU NEED TO BE THERE! because your missing out!

Really good times to be had with some crazed diesel heads.

Wasn't happy

I have to agree somewhat. I was not happy in only seeing 4:mad: open trucks. Why was there a boycot going on? I did like the show thought it was a good time but, can't everyone get along?

Great evaluation Justin!!;) BTW,... . it was good to see you

again! Congratulations to Kent Crowder, Dan Scheid and

the entire Scheid Diesel Crew on their win and to all of the

winners not only in the pulls, but the dyno events and

show and shine also. Van Haisley's new truck looks great

and ran very, very well! I know Van and Patty have

worked VERY hard on that truck! Great job Van!

It was my first time at TiM but man was it a good time. Friday night at Lee's Inn was great. It's awesome to see so many cool trucks and talk to all the 'diesel freaks'. The pulls on Saturday were a good time as expected. I was sitting next to a guy(Chevy/Duramax fan) from Michigan at the pulls Saturday when all the Duramaxes were pulling really good. I remember he said something to me about how the Chevys were kicking some Dodge tail. I then saw Sled Puller in the line getting ready to pull and I told him "Yeah, well, things are going to change really quick". They sure did. Dodge/Cummins dominates again. Scheid's truck never ceases to amaze and Van Haisley did an awesome job too. The drags were cool too. It was awesome seeing the diesel dragster from Colorado. Only got to see one run but that was something to see. Sure was a good time and I can't wait until Scheid's Diesel Extravaganza in August.

Because one shop got tired of losing to that Scheid truck?

Let me be clear on this: The MODIFIED class was NOT the OPEN class of years past.

There was only one mod class truck missing from the class that pulled last year.

The rest of the mod class '03 were a few Fords running drugs(all drugs were banned this year) and Pro Street trucks, taking a second hook.

We refined the classes, and limited the pullers to one class only.

That said, There is only about 6 full blown Modified trucks in the entire country running at the moment. We are very fortunate that 4 of them got them running for TiM. There are several being built, and with any luck, will be running by Scheids, the end of August.

As far as not getting along, I can assure you, we at the DHRA went out of our way to try and accommodate as many pullers as possible.

Special thanks goes to Ryan Milby of Enterprise Engine, for graciously accepting our tech officials decision that his single turbo was illegal for the street class.

Ryan then bumped up to the Pro Street class, and spanked the twin charger trucks, including myself.

See? We all can get along!

This was the first pull on many new things, we will make changes as needed.

Thanks to all the pullers and fans that made TiM'04 as good as it was!!

Also thanks to all the MOD class pullers for making this sport what it is.

Special thanks to ERIK STACEY from EEP for bringing his MOD class puller to Muncie... That kind of dedication goes a long way.
