Competition Ouch - expensive day

Off Roading Running without the sway bar

We had a blast!

What a way for my Wife and I to spend the anniversary weekend! I've never seen so many diesel trucks in one place! Even though we had to bring our 2-month-old baby, it was an event not to be missed. Too bad I couldn't have driven the truck, it felt silly sitting in a line of trucks waiting to get in with a Saturn wagon. So much fun - and it was my Wife's idea to go! :D She wants a truck now!

My first Thunder in Muncie Impressions.....

The show was absolutely fantastic and is one that I will not miss out on again. The total amount of diesel trucks in attendance was crazy. Anywhere you turned in the area you seen one of any make. Some of the finest looking diesel rides in the nation were in attendance and it amazed me to what lengths they went to for show-n-shine. The fairgrounds were definitely a rocking with plenty of diesel HP.

Lee's Inn was crazy and some of the things guys did with their trucks was too. I am certain some of the major tire manufacturers can gather up enough tire scraps and make a few new sets for those who lat it all hang out :D :D :D . Not sure who hung the Cummins Flag at the motel but that was a neat touch,LOL. The local law enforcement was great and let them have their fun and only a few arrests were made to a couple who got stupid.

Special thanks goes to Ryan Milby of Enterprise Engine, for graciously accepting our tech officials decision that his single turbo was illegal for the street class.

SPANKED????... .

Maybe,,,LOL. One thing was for sure Ryan had that single charger ride hauling the mail and it was nice to see a single charger truck can run with the twins. GREAT JOB MILBY!!!!!!!.

My ONLY complaint is the traffic getting into the fairgrounds. Either I need to quit detailing earlier so I can get into line sooner or finish my detailing while sitting in the traffic jam. I thought getting up at 5:30am and detailing till 8:30 would allow me to slip in after the major jam,man was I wrong, sheesh. . LOL.

Nice weather made for a nice show and the DHRA people kept it moving which made it even better. I'll be back, thats for sure... ... Andy

It was a GREAT time there. Well worth the trip. Oo. The dragster run of 8. 75 was sweet. (almost left before)

Always fun to see the familiar (and new faces) and check out a concentration of awesome trucks.

I wished I had remembered to make a shirt with BIGHAMMER on it.

I wished I had stayed on the freeway on the way down-- MUCH faster trip home. (Thanks to the MI convoy I just happened to join up with)

I wished I had made a reservation for Lee's Inn instead of down the road.

I wished I had remembered to take a picture of the drive into Lee's Sunday Morning

Great time, thanks to all. ;)

This was my 4th Thunder in Muncie and it won't be my last. Lee's Inn was letting you book a room for next year. I already have mine. Sorry I missed seeing you Justin. As far as the show, I think all of the above comments covers it.

Andy (Hammer) I'm glad to see you enjoyed yourself. Sorry I didn't get to talk to you more. Your truck looked great as usual.

Eric, You and your team did a FANTASTIC job. My hat goes off to all the work you and you team put into it. It was very organized and professionally done. GREAT JOB!!!!!

Jeff

Thanks to all of the sponsors, vendors, workers and most importantly you all for making Thunder in Muncie the best it has EVER been. This show has grown so tremendously over the years and it isn't because of any other reason than it is what we diesel enthusiasts have made it.

First time for the local sheriff to ask if they could help at the gate because the line was a mile each way getting in. A compliment!

Incredible how well the new pulling procedure made the whole day that much better. Great job to the DHRA staff for their efforts and insight on how to "fine tune" it for Scheid's show this year. There is no doubt that diesel motorsports are the most exciting thing to watch!

My apologies for selling out of event t-shirts by noon on Saturday, I ordered the same amount as I did for 2003 and I had a bunch of those left over. I will, however, be getting more in so keep an eye out on www.thunderinmuncie.com. It will take the producer's about 2 months to edit the 18+ hours of footage from the event before we get the official TiM video out.

Once again, thanks to all of you for attending the crew at DieselSport Promotions and DHRA are honored to have served you.

I never thought I could see that many diesels at one place. What a RUSH... ... Great weekend, nice people, lots of fun.

I think the DHRA staff needs a BIG THANK YOU, as I know Neal, Sleddy and Eric Mcbride spent countless hours dong tons of work to make the whole weekend possible. I am sure there are more people involved, but for those I knew there... ... an awesome job was done by the whole DHRA crew.

I have over 100 pics of the place but don't know how to post that many in one shot..... but may be available upon request. I got a lot of pics of the crowd and the trucks. I'll see what I can do... .

No doubt reservations will be made for next year. How many more days? Oo.

It was my first time at TiM and it was grate. Totally freaking awesome. It was a pleaser to meet and talk with everybody.

Had a blast and then some. I will defiantly be there next year.

What are the dates for next year? Dose anybody have them yet? I did not here them when I was there. Thanks.

MIKE

I was lucky, my anniversary was on monday, coming home. What an event. Eric has to be commended for the show. Really an awesome show. But from what I heard, not to be in Muncie anymore. Is moving to IRP. If that's true I really hate it. Muncie has a neat feel to it. You won't have the freedom in Indianapolis you do in Muncie. Burnouts in front of the motels? Not anymore. Racing down the road at the pulls? Not anymore. But then the Muncie fair grounds don't want us. The money is the problem? Ain't it always. I guess you go where you're wanted.

Attendance was ~3700 Saturday ~ 2100 Sunday, the truck count was WAY higher than years before. We still have a lot of counting to do.

I am currently working on the dates for next year, no comment on location as I need to do some serious thinking about that. I LOVE it here in Muncie, but the golden gates of IRP are calling, we'll see. I will let everyone know as soon as I know.

COOL things I saw at Muncie...

Figure 8's on the street in front of Lees Inn.

Flames shooting out of somebodys tail pipe

The guy sitting on the hood of the car smoking the rear tire into oblivion

Some young girl that was wearing cats eye contacts (a Kondolay, perhaps?)

Ryan Milby spanking all the trucks in the Pro Street class with a truck that (I think) should be in the street class (I respect the techs decision, though)

The paint job on Eric Staceys Black Dog (good to see you could make it after all)

Both the Schied and Haisley trucks pull

The side street in front of Lees Inn Sunday morning (complete with soot stained curbs and grass!!)

The rail job make its low 9 sec. pass at the drag way.

There was the burnout show including Kirk Kannard losing a rear end in his Dually equipped with huge drag slicks.

I have to correct you Justin. I lost the rear planetary gear in the transmission. Being how the trannsmission is out of the truck still this pm DTT is overniting some new upgrades now available and I should be back in business for Union Grove this weekend. I am cutting it way to close. Why the %$# I tried a burnout in reverse. Oh what the hay, I had fun:D
