I cant speak for Amsoil or AFE but i STRONGLY suggest you dont use ANYTHING other then K&N filter oil on there filters. I had a friend who trashed his motorcycle engine when he used trannie fluid on his K&N. The oil is not that expensive and you should not have to use it more then once every 30-50k miles.

$10. 00 for filter oil every year is too expensive? i can cover an RE-0880 twice with one can of filter oil.

If conservitiveley you drive 30K miles a year in normal conditions (Not in the desert or off road in dusty conditions) you should need to clean your filter once a year is PLENTY. So your looking at $10. 00 every 2 years to protect a 4k motor. Thats a small price to pay if you ask me

Well given your subject (air filter BEARING) I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. But if you are serious I would recommend sticking with the K&N oil as the others said (not sure about the AFE or AMSOIL filters - I'd assume they have their own oils). One thing I learned with my K&N's (in the past, I personally won't use an oiled filter on my CTD) is that you are far better off using their aerosol oil than the squeeze type, it's much easier to oil the element without over oiling it with the aerosol type spray.

2 nickles

Wazzamater, can't find your 2 nickles??????:p I got some genn-u-wine air filter bearing grease, same stuff you use on muffler bearings, and Johnson Rods. :D

I hear you can use whale oil but it's only available through Ford owned Cummins dealers.

Seriously you just spent somewhere around 30k for a truck and you don't want to spend $10 - $15 a year on your air filter. Dirty air will kill a Diesel in less than 6 months - doesn't make sence to me. Like an old freind once said "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it".

Happy Trails

Shooter,

For the K&N filters I'd use their spray oil which is designed for this purpose. Amsoil uses a special tack oil (it's purple) that will not run off the foam after an extended time. Engine oil will run off the filter the first time it gets hot and will wind up in the bottom of the air filter housing. An eight ounce bottle of the Amsoil foam filter oil is only a few bucks - this is enough to re-oil the filter about four times. Since the Amsoil filters come pre-oiled this should take you quite a ways. I can check on getting you this stuff in bulk if you're interested, but you might end up with a lifetime supply ;)

Jeez - I thought he was kidding!!!!!! Wouldn't have suggested STP if I thought he was serious.

Come on Bighammer - - - - Shooter was trying to be serious, but the spam jelly is better than my STP idea, tastes better too!
