Well, I've been playing with plate position and AFC position again. I started out just adding a #6 plate, BHAF, 4" straight exhaust and I got the HP bug.

A while back I went on a bombing adventure and added a billet DTT trans, big turbo, 3K GSK, 370's and high flow DV's from City Diesel. With the plate in stock position and the AFC slid to the front the thing was an animal, easy burn outs, huge amounts of smoke that actually cleaned up. EGT's hit 1400 pretty quick and 100 mph came an went very quickly too. :-laf

I couldn't tow like that so I've been running the AFC slid back with the #6 plate all the way back too. I didn't like it much, still had lots of smoke with the cheap 370's and "high flow" DV's. I tow very heavy and I was trying to reduce EGT's by sliding back. I have the 160 pump and the DV's helped a lot to feed the 370's, I don't have any stumble. The towing EGT's can hit 1200 pretty easy. Sliding everything back killed the unloaded power a good bit, couldn't do burn outs unless I "meant to". ;)

I blew the stock turbo boots, added the BD silicone kit to fix. Added a Valet switch, that switch comes in very handy. Right now, my #6 plate is about 1/8" from full forward and the AFC is slid all the way forward too. EGT control is done by the right foot, I hit 1100 degrees and 40 psi at 80 mph sprints from a standing start. The boost comes right now and very quick. It cruises fine at 700 to 800 degrees. It runs well, I thought the EGT's woud be lower with the 62/14 S300. With the valet switch on, EGT's climb much slower. I run with it on most of the time when I don't want to watch the guages.

I tow with EGT's at 1000 to 1250 degrees running 60 to 75 mph. Average pulling EGT is 1100 with a big tripple axle toy hauler. Sliding the plate has not changed my pulling EGT, slid back it's a "dog" and smokey. Well, it ain't slow, just not as much fun as before.

What do you think regular 1200 degree runs will do to the engines life span? I run a sustained 1100 degrees while pulling, is there something I could change to lower the EGT's while towing without killing the fun? Would twins help much? I'm already running a big turbo and don't want anything bigger to avoid lag.

I'm controlling smoke pretty good with a tight star wheel. I can keep it down if I want too. I'm thinking twins so I can have a really big turbo to lower the EGT's, but will it be better than a HTT S300 single while towing?
