Thanks guys for the replys, glad to hear you guys are having goodluck with your systems & good service with kore. Hopefully years to come.

Anybody have ideas on why my steering wheel jerks when I am in a turn going over cross bumps? When turning to the left the wheel is a quarter/half turned while going over the cross bumps (not typical washboards alittle bigger) the wheel jerks back to the right while hitting the bumps. Same if turning to the right, jerks to the left. Got 90 psi of nitro in FOX steering shock(tried all ranges of psi in the shock). Dealership says steering components & ball joints are good. Did notice when I put on the 35's it wasn't as bad of a jerk as it was with 33's.

Suspension moves > steering linkage moves > steering wheel turns

Also known as 'bump steer'

I kind of figured that was the nature of the beast having bump steer.

By having the bigger tires, more tire surface covering the bumps as the tire goes of it. The smaller tires will drop into the bumps deeper causing a sharper jolt to the suspension. That's what I noticed.

So really should I need the FOX shock? The stocker should be fine? Just for curosity maybe I should put the stock back in to see how much of a difference it makes.

By revalving the front shox sure changed how the rear works. It seems like the rear is alittle more bouncy sometimes kind of row boaty. I am going to call FOX back up to see what they recommend on revalving the rear shox since it is so easy to rebuilt/revalve the shox. They should know whats in there for valving & know which route I should take, compression or rebound or both. I won't mind taking the rears in & out several times if I have too since access is easy to get to them.

Thanks guys

Bump steer is caused by the difference between the geometry of the steering linkages and the control linkages for the front axle, in our case mostly between the track bar and the drag link. The inverted "Y" steering linkage makes this worse as you increase suspension travel by changing toe in quite a bit, it toes in as the axle drops and toes out as the suspension compresses, you will feel this on the wheel more now than stock because it changes more now.

Still thinking on this... ...

I might go for a romp this afternoon and feel out my truck, maybe I'll think of somthing usefull :-laf

^^^Exactly^^^^

Look at the video at "01:10". The older I-beam Fords had bumpsteer, along with caster issues, inherant in the suspension design.

Are you in four wheel drive when this occurs?

2wd mostly, unless its muddy or might need to climb something. Even if I am in 4wd usually don't drive very fast. Mostly drive in the field in ranges from 25 to 45 mph in 2wd.

I don't know if this a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyways, the tie rod on the pitman arm, can you flip that over to the bottom of the pitman instead of the top and would it be somewhat like if you had put on a drop pitman arm?

No. The hole is tapered, and even if you did, you would mess up the geometry of your steering sytem by varying the angular difference of the trac bar and drag link. You would need to drop the trac bar accordingly, and then you will realize for all the effort, you have improved nothing, and possibly limited bump travel.

I've noticed my right front tire rubs on the lower control arm fully turned. Do I need to lower the trac bar to get the front end back over? The left tire is not rubbing. Also how much articulation is lost if any with lift I got from the springs?

As a new Recon owner, I'm a little disappointed to hear about problems with KORE and it's customer service. If everything works OK, no problem. I'm worried now about something going wrong (I guess the Bilstein shocks are the only thing that can really go wrong) and not having any "service after the sale".

I based my decision to purhcase the Recon based on all of the good things I read about KORE on this site. I'm disappointed we haven't heard anything about this from Kent/Greg.

This is probably why they will continue to lose business. As a business owner/vendor/distributor the common sense solution would be to address the issues head on with the customer and work out a solution. That's just not the way Kore and specifically Boardman operate.

BSkinner, You don't have anything to worry about. There are many more satisfied KORE, and DRC customers out there, than not. Do a search for KORE here and see what kind of vibe you get. You will find some recent slander campaigns, but usually those are initiated by non-KORE owners. The fact is that it's not uncommon for a few customers to have ill feelings toward any company, producing any type of product. I worked retail a long time ago. Certain customers were, well, bad customers.

I bought the T-Rex Fox system over two years ago. The system preformed flawlessly. One day my driver side front shock started leaking a little oil. I called KORE, spoke with Sara Mae and explained to her the situation. No problem. I sent the shock back, they rebuilt it, and it was back to me within a week. Was it their fault the Fox shock was leaking? No, but they took care of it and it has been fine ever since.

Now I don't know anything about jtnm's situation here, but my experiences with both KORE and DRC (Greg Boardman) have always been positive. If they are choosing not to respond to this thread, I imagine there might be more to the story than has been told, and they don't really care to launch into an online battle with an isolated unhappy camper. I can understand that. So as long as they continue their good service to me, I remain a completely satisfied customer. Jtnm, sorry your situation hasn't been as positive as the several thousand others out there. Hopefully things will work out for you and your truck.

It looks like you know Kent or at least shot some pictures for one of his articles. Sounds like he gives you great service.

Yes you are correct jtnm. I volunteered a few years back to help pit for the KORE Baja1000 race effort. Several other satisfied customers did as well. Many more wish they would have.
