Update on the main bearing fiasco, Installed new main bearing, torqued to 60,97 newton meters then on the final torque I got side tracted and ran the torque wrench up to 175 like I should have only I got on the ftlbs scale. well stuff happens, I ordered two new bolts put them in, reninstalled engine in truck, new clutch and pressure plate, put trans in and trasfercase.

The final result is a vibration at all engine speeds, and the clutch raises heck at idle. If you push in the clutch pedle, the clutch noise goes away. My theory on the clutch noise is my new disk has large springs in the center and the old one had spall, mix that with a vibration and that poduces noise.

I cannot place the cause of the engine vibration tho, I cracked all the fuel lines and each cylinder is contributing, it almost runs like it did when it sheared the shaft off in the pump head. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here? does the harmonic balance have to be timed? Thank you Jon

The balancer is probably keyed, maybe?

Does the vibration go away with and injector when you loosen the line?

What do you have idle set at? If its too low, all kinds of funny stuff will happen. Does the engine smooth out if you bring the rpms up some?

Any smoke? Does the engine "lope", or does the vibration feel like something is way out of balance?

Where is NEMO? I know they found him in the end of the movie, :-laf , but I'm assuming North East Missouri? I'm in South East Iowa, near Fairfield to be exact.

Give us some more info.

Harmonic damper isn't keyed. Probably got the flywheel/clutch assembly slightly wrong. Did you possibly use the wrong bolt in a clutch bolt hole?

James

Do you have a temperature gun? Is so you can you "shoot" all the cylinders to see if the temps are close. That would tell you if a cylinder is weak.

Is the harmoinic balancer leaking?

Yes Northeast Missouri, South of Kirksville to be exsect.

Balancer is not keyed, idle may be a bit low and it does smooth out a bit once you speed up the engine a 100 rpms or so. but the vibration does not go away.

the clutch has me concered also. The fuel system should be fine as it was working properly before disassembly and I did not screw with it.

all cylinders are firing also. Thanks Jon

I did something one time installing a clutch, and it vibrated at idle, and never went away, similar to what you describe, but I ran it another 40K before selling it, and had no issues. Porbably wore the pilot bushing out, along with the input shaft, though. I'd check the input shaft, clutch alignment.
