Removing Dents

Buying a used lift

I was watching the temp gauge yesterday which appeared fine. I do not hear any knocking/pinging but I will try a different station since it is almost time to refill anyway.

It could be that the sensor is open or shorted, but if it is doing it’s job, you probably wouldn’t hear the engine pinging.
I would for sure increase the grade of Gasoline to check.
If it does light the MIL again, see if you can put the freeze frame data up here.

Yeah, the sell part has crossed my mind. The friggin thing only has 85k on the clock. The Az. sun has stripped most of the roof line clear coat, it has always eaten front disc pads every 16k miles. Toyota's steller reputation has not impressed me and we bought it new.
I had a terrible experience with the one and only Toyota we bought. Never again.

Tried a tankful of Ethanol Free gasoline, 90 Octane in Hoopty Deux last week....Holy Crap what a difference. plus 2 mpg better.

I'm a fan!!!

We now have a local chain that recently included it at their fuel islands, a new trend up here. Unleaded 87 Octane on right side of pump and the 90 Octane Ethanol Free on the left side.

But in Arizona you have Ethanol free gas already right?? Or at least in the summer.....

I have a lot of E85 experience, and what happens when you mix it, especially relating to engine management. Ethanol is not friendly stuff (except for the farmers). Avoid it at all costs. You can’t believe what using E85 only does to spark plugs!

Not in Maricopa County. It's ethanol or bust.

You’re talking ethanol blended gasoline? Yes here too. They were talking about jacking up the cut of Methanol, but I don’t think that’ll happen.

Took the Wife to the doctors yesterday with a check engine on her 05 Toyota Sienna v6. This is the second time in a few weeks, shut it off, restart engine light off. Finally broke out the old XP laptop with the Alex Pepper OBD-2 software that I have not used in years and was worried I would spend most of the day to get it to hook up. To my surprise it connected right up. No engine light on but the stored code P0328KS1CHI(B2) came up. Saved the file and cleared the code. Now the bad part. The code refers to a knock Sensor Bank 1. That thing is $160.00 . To get to it the procedure is 10 pages long . It starts with removing the wiper assemblies, cowl panel, air box, air plenum, fuel rail and intake manifold to even get to the friggin thing as it is under the intake . Taking it somewhere is around $1k bill. They give a test procedure using an ohmmeter once you get to it but since it is intermittent I don't know if that would be valid. This 65 year old body may not stand up to this abuse especially after all the radiation and still going on Man Killer shots that leave me with ) testosterone (read no energy) :(. They say while you have it tore down this far to replace the almost impossible to get to rear spark plugs. Anyway I cleared the code and have not heard any unusual noises, ran fine, idled fine, wait and see if it comes back.
Cleared the code, trade it off? Really, that is what I hate about any newer vehicle. PIA to service. The manufacturer must love that.

Trade is not really an option when being retired unless one is receiving one of those bloated retirement checks (I am not). So no payments in my future. Sell would be the only option if repair was abandoned. Had to take the Wife to another appt. after clearing the stored code. About 20ish miles round trip including a stop for gas and pharmacy. Ran fine as usual and no light but it had been 3-4 weeks between lights before. The code states the ECM received a high voltage that trips the light. Keep driving it and see what happens.
