My OEM Continentals were smooth, and my Firestones are as well. I run them around 95 psi to 100 psi. My truck weighs in around 10,860 lbs or so, which may be a contributing factor in a smoother ride.Hey GS, how well do those 19.5’s balance out?
When one compares the additional marginal wheel weight and marginal tire weight increases in regards to going from 17” assemblies to 19.5” assemblies.....be glad you have the 17” versions. The increase in rolling resistance and additional rotating mass are not positive factors in regards to achieving good fuel economy.
With that being said.....for my commercial use of the truck, I really like my 19.5’s.
Also.....price out dismounting 6, remounting 6, and balancing 6 19.5” tires and wheels in your area. It ran me $380.52 when I installed my new Firestones back this April or so.
Continentals went 128k miles....had a little life left, but didn’t want to push them down too low. Running commercially, I cannot go less than 2/32nds on drives and 4/32nds on steers.I bet they would last substantially longer??? I do agree with the downsides you pointed out, though.
I meant literally- how much weight do they get? The rims and tires being so heavy, I wondered about the manufacturing tolerance.Hey GS, how well do those 19.5’s balance out?
And never permitted on a CMV.Recaps on the front. Not something you would expect to see.
Definitely a VA trooper.Troop car looks like Virginia, so maybe I-77???
Wonder if there was a simultaneous front blowout and a catastrophic cardan joint failure at the transfer case causing this? Wayne M. did not mention any trailer accompanying the truck.Retreads don't explain the front wheel AND the entire rear axle coming off.
Either that truck should have been condemned long ago or someones shade tree mechanics license needs revoked![]()
This is SOP around here for ages to have meandering threads among friends. No bickering BS. It's all good. Why are we tearing the OP’s thread up?
This whole tire thing should be it’s own thread.
I don’t know about the vehicle inspection laws in VA, but I can guarantee that recaps are illegal on the steer.
