Hello all. I hope the spring is treating y'all better than me.

Like the title says, I'm looking for a rear hub. Here's the wrench. Apparently the guy I bought the truck from 15-ish years ago put a different rear-end on my rig, and I've tried 4 different hubs fro various yards, all with no avail. If you want a story about my experience so far, read on.

I started by asking for a hub that fits my '93 250 RWD 5.9L diesel with 12 x 2 1/2" brakes. Went through 2 that didn't fit before my mechanich decided to pull the axle to see what the problem was. He said he found out that it was a Spicer(Dana?)-70 axle and a full 1-ton rear. This reminded me that when I bought the truck, the guy did mention that he beefed up the rear-end because he put an over-sized camper on the truck

So I called around and then went through 2 more hubs for this application, again to no avail. Today the yard I went to to return my latest wrong hub sent me to a commercial brake and clutch shop who he said could tell me what hub I have, because he assured me that what he gave me should have fit a 350 rear end. At that shop, they pulled the bearings out of the hub and used their books to cross reference the bearings with their applications. Here's the info I now have:

The inner bearing and race are #BR38 and the rear bearing is #28682. These are compatible with a '91-'93 Dana-60 9000lb GVW with 12" x 3" brakes, OR any number of '94-99 vehicles with 13" x 2 1/2" brakes. He said that the only real way to ensure I get the right hub is to take the bearings or numbers to the yard and have them make sure they fit the hub. However, the wrecking yards are unwilling to go through this much effort.

What do y'all think I should do?

Thank you

You should be able to find hubs any place for your truck from multiple years . Try e bay or six states in portland,Ore or any axle shop .Even Boyce in Ogden ,IT should have it

Thanks Donovan. You'd think it wouldn't be this difficult. I've used car-parts.com, called almost every place across the country, and asked for suggestions and called all those. I think I have 3 pages of phone numbers that I called.

I think I have found one off e-bay. He says he has one with matching casting numbers so that should work.

My main frustration is that no matter what info I gave, it seems I got different answers from different yards.
Before I got the response from the guy off e-bay who says he has a matching casting number, I was giving the yards numbers off the tag on my rear end, off the differential cover and off the axle tubes and some shops/yards would tell me it's a dana 60 and some would say it's a dana 70. Wow....

New frustrations. I got the numbers off the rear differential and went to a transmission shop with them and was told that my rear end came off a '91-93 D600 or D700. It's my understanding that Dodge stopped making these in '81. Why am I getting such lousy info???

If anyone can help, my casting number is 223 8903.
Please????

Thanks

Try having the parts houses source for a 66-93 1 ton rear differential from a Dodge motor home, that should get you the correct hubs and drums. They are a 12x3 drum and the last time I bought parts for that specific rear axle they were all from the MH application and that was the only place we found them. Different parts book list them differently, try to find a place that has a Raybestos parts catalog.
