Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Help with switch to synthetic oil

I just go back from our annual trip to the Florence dunes towing our 40 ft toyhauler for the first time since getting a DTT trans installed, installing a PacBrake and a BD tow lock. Finally able to use some of the power the Edge gives me and I pop the Turbo to intercooler hump hose out from under the clamp on a steep grade. Fixed it and it immediately popped out again. I understand the stock ones are not up to snuf and can't handle additional boost much so the question is this - I am looking at two different manufacturers, BD and Mr. Bobs. Mr. Bobs kit appears to have the hump hoses that look like the stock ones, BD's kit does not. Are the hump hoses necessary? Seems like you would want them on a short hose to allow for engine movement. I would prefer to get the BD's since one of my favorite local outfit sells them and I can get them alot cheaper but I don't want to sacrifice anything in the process. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Hump hoses are very necessary to protect the intercooler inlet and outlet from the stress of engine movement. I found out the hard way when I put on a new set of hoses that didn't have the hump and the inlet pipe cracked at the intercooler body, an expensive lesson. Now I use hoses from Turbo Hoses R&D, they are pricey but the best IMO. Good Luck!

not sure where your at if your in Oregon you can call Rip at sourceautomive. biz they got his type and others of the hoses and the better constant torque clamps. if your in washington I have some places also to check out. glad you left Florence now there is a nasty storm coming in tonight. good luck

I use the ones that Rip has, there is the other ones with the springs that hold a constant torque too. Rip can get you either ones. . pending where you live you could call Randys offroad up there or dynamite Diesel they should be able to help. also a good spot to look at on 2nd gen trucks the bottom intercooler boots will rub into the inner-fender lip due to the way the lip rolls under, alot of people have just taken a small piece of wood on the edge and some pliers and gently bend the fender lip out of the way.

Thanks, I got that link for the silicone hoses from somewhere else and they look good. I am going back and forth between the Mr. Bobs, and the cheap *** silicone hoses. Difference is 50 psi and 100 psi working pressure. I know I don't produce 50 psi but I still hit the BOV on occasion so I don't know if I get spikes or something that the better hoses would be good for. Just don't want to waste money either. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
