Third Generation Hitch Capacity?

I decided today to swap out the cheap brake controler my upfitter gave me and replace it with a Prodigy controler.

When I installed it and connected it to my trailer the controler blinks:

. C. then S. H.

Apparently there is a short or bad ground. I want to pull out the 7-pin connector on the truck and check all the wires and make sure they are connected correctly and securly to the connector, but I want to make sure I know Dodge's 2008 4500 wire color coding schema. That is, the wires from the truck.

I can't seem to find anything out there on the web that has the codes and the original Upfitter's instructions were discarded by the Upfitter after they installed the dump body.

Thanks in advance.

From Tekonsha. My 06' has the wiring diagram on the 7pin cover at the bumper.

Q. ) The Display shows "SH". A. ) The Prodigy® detects a short to ground on the brake wire (Blue wire). The Prodigy has to have a complete circuit from the control to the brake magnets to the ground and has to have the proper resistance. Possible Causes:

· Short to ground on the brake circuit wire.

· Trailer has electric over hydraulic brakes.

· Faulty control.

Thank you for the information and the links.

I was trying to find the upfitter guide on the Dodge site, but could never find a link (their site stinks as far as finding info).

I have to believe that the blue wire may be shorting out in the connector on the truck. There is hardly any room between the fuel tank and the end of the connector when it is screwed into the rear steel plate. the wires are just about crushed into the back of the fuel tank.

HELP AGAIN!!

I went to the Dodge Upfitters site and went to this page:

http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/2008/docs/wd/dr/wiringdiagrams/8w54trailertow.pdf

But can't quite identify every wire. I can't read it too well. (Why can't Dodge just stick with the Universal Wire colors for trailer connectors).

I am pretty sure that the wires are screwed up.

On my truck I have the following wires:

Black - ??? (Ground?)

Red/Violet tracer - ???? (Power?)

Brown - Tail lights ?

Yellow - Left Turn

Light Green - Right Turn

Dark Green - ??? (I think the brake wire)

White/Lt. Green tracer - ???? (Aux?)

I need help ASAP since i have the plug out right now and it looks like rain later.

Thanks again.
