Engine Clatter, and Rough Idle.

Engine Stall After Acceleration

The oil level is a little low I have a new dip stick to install tomorrow to top off the oil. it has 2.5 gallons in it.
I have not hooked up the intercooler or radiator yet.but I don't want that oil going into the intercooler do i ?
I

just started it for 30 seconds a couple different times.

As an option to a new turbo you could attempt to rebuild this turbo with a bearing and seal kit from Turbo Lab or others on Ebay. The "seals" are actually like piston rings and Turbo Lab uses gapless rings in their kit. My recollection is that there are two rings, one on the exhaust side and one on the compressor side. I rebuilt my turbo myself and it was an easy enough job and the kit was not that expensive. Just needed to purchase some very small snap ring plyers. There are good You Tube videos to guide you. Turbo Lab also sells the component parts as well as upgraded components for your HE351CW Holset Turbo. Since the oil appears to be blowing by the rings internally you will want to inspect the shaft to make sure it has not been damaged.

if I upgrade turbo 62,64,66? has a BD pulse manifold and built trans with triple lok converter. any suggestions also has cts2 and 6 position switch not sure if there are any tunes but I will get some. not looking to race just more power and millage and pull a 25ft boat mabe.
I didn't do the engine swap it came that way had to swap out harness and valve covers and turbo. But when my back was better not a problem.

This is what I am running and I am very happy with the responsiveness:
Turbine housing and wheel: 67 mm x 76 mm
Billet Compressor wheel: 62.45 x 86 x 90 mm

I believe they go to 67mm on the compressor wheel but felt that was too much.

I ditched my CTS and now run an MM3 and custom tune and so far very happy with the performance towing my 10,000 lb + trailer.

were did you get the turbo from ?
you still have stock injectors?
I have BD manifold built trans.
Thanks

I had my original turbo rebuilt by Turbo Resource out of Lake Havasu City with an upgrade to the 60mm billit compressor wheel. When I burned up a piston that sent pieces out the exhaust it cracked the turbine housing and Turbo Resource was not certain it could be repaired and had no replacement available. I then purchased a new exhaust housing from Turbo Lab with an upgraded 67mm x 76mm wheel. I gave this turbo to my SIL who is planning to install it on his 2007 5.9 CTD. I then purchased an entire new turbo kit from Turbo Lab as described above. Turbo Lab has an Ebay Store with all their parts plus whole turbos. Turbo Lab also has some good write ups on the HE351CW upgrades on their website. Check them out.

I have BBI Stage 1 injectors but also other upgrades as well when my motor was remanufactured.

Hello all update to where I'm at truck starts and runs sounds ok I guess but the cts2 shows high rail pressure 25200 wit fluctuations about 100 has a code also for this I haven't started it much cause I don't want to blow a injector. I put new rail sensor and new fca no change. also it shows 4.98v on power wire and signal wire on rail sensor. suppose to be 5v and .5 volt
my guess is the 4.98v on the signal wire is probably right cause the pressure is so high.

What Code please?
And the rail pressure slightly fluctuats always and on every rail motor. That's normal.
And no you can't blow an injector for this you have the PRV. Ive seen fairly higher rail pressures in an overboost condition then your 25k.

I’ll look into those codes tomorrow, but that looks like a wiring issue.

Is there a ton of injection rattle?

From what I remember 5K is a little low, but 6-7K sounds right for an 06.

it's rattling but i couldn't tell you if it really bad or normal sounds like a diesel. I had a 9sec video but I can't post-it
I also read that alot of people block/put a plug in place of that rail pressure relief I didn't take this one out yet to inspect it I think it's original.

25k at idle - that would sound like a stone crusher.
Does it?

Codes point to the FCA, but it could be the wiring as well.
You need better diagnostics to see what the ECM commands and what he sees in return.

Right now you're just using the parts gun, staring into a crystal ball.
