Which rear end oil for towing?

Now to the good stuff--I know you have all probably answered my next question many times. But I've got to get your opinions and suggestions.

Heres my ideas for my truck, let me know what you think:

1st comes a empty CAT and Flowmaster--stock diameter exhaust, 2nd a combination Boost/EGT gauge (Westach) from Geno's Garage, 3rd a #10 TST Plate, 4th a ? clutch, maybe Centerforce or McCleod, 4th if the egt's are too high, a 16 turbo housing.

Does this sound good? Any problems with these mods? Any other Clutch manufacturers with proven results? What will the fuel mileage do with a #10?

I really don't want a truck that uses as fuel as my now sold PSD F350 crewcab, single wheel 1-ton. (about 12 to 14 MPG is what it got)

I don't pull alot--just want to dust off a few ex-buddies with PSD's on the Sunday afternoon 4x4 diesel drags.

Thanks for the help

bowhunter,

You better combine the clutch with the #10 plate or put it before the #10 plate. My clutch is slipping with a #11 plate.

BTW, my mileage actually increased 5-10% after the #11 plate went in.

This is what I keep telling people,
"Do NOT install a TST plate! It will cause your truck to have too much power for your drive train and cause you to spend big bucks for upgrades. In addition it is also known to infect most people with the virus called Bombitmoreitis. Signs of this disease can be detected in the victim when he starts doing crazy things like installing bigger injectors, exhaust, & turbo housings because he thinks everything he has is too small. "

Seems like nobody here pays attention and/or takes my warning seriously. #ad

Thanks Joe,

I have seen and heard that I believe you have a clutch that you have designed to take the torque. Do you have any information on it and what it costs?

I appreciate your help

Thanks KOA,

Will I have any EGT problems with the #10 and stock exhaust(empty CAT)and flowmaster, stock turbo housing? Is the 16 turbo housing necessary?

I don't pull anything heavy.

Thanks

You will definitely need the 16 housing, and of course the HX40 Superturbo is even better. DON'T slide the plate forward from stock. It will already give you about 345 hp and 860 ft lb on the dyno in stock location and egts will be "plenty. " You better upthink on clutches because you wont come back for less power and you will fully flex the Centerforce with the #10. It will probably hold, at least for a while, unless you go for heavy towing, etc. Most of us do some of the "etc" so I am warning you in advance. Like Koa Man says, you might just get addicted. #ad

Kurt, Don't listen to these guys, go straight for the H2 turbo,370 hp injectors,3800rpm governor spring kit, advanced pump timing, propane, Sachs clutch, 5" straight exhaust, afc spring kit, High flow delivery valves, Marine head gasket, altered valve lash, and reworked fueling curves. Then you won't have to worry if you are doing the right things to your truck. Bombaholics, Bombitmoreitis. Where do these guys come up with this stuff???? #ad

Oh by the way, you might see slightly higher exhaust temps and slightly less fuel mileage withthese mods #ad

Kurt, don't listen to Big DQ. If you do all you are going to end up with is a lot of angry Mustang and Camaro drivers. #ad
Go milder so they can beat you in a race and be happy.

Koa,I agree I am currently looking at decreasing my current power level, my wife is tired of the transmission growl and being pushed into the seat. LOL

My wife could give a sh*t less about my truck. She says its already to loud and big.

I know she's starting to wonder why I'm sitting here most of the night with this webpage up. I give her until the end of March when she sees "Ole Dorine" my truck, blazing in the driveway with a mushroom cloud behind it and all the bugs around the house falling from the sky. Not to mention the gadgets coming in the mail.

Oh yes... I'll have a lot of explaining to do.

Kurt
