on my way to work about 45 min ago my trans shifted out of overdrive. when i say out of overdrive i mean it was like i took it out by hitting the button. when i looked over at the o/d button the light was on not off like it should have been. i was doing 60 mph when this happen that sucked. also my light switch for my headlights smells like it is getting hot but when i touch it it is only warm not hot at all. for these ?'s it might be easer to call me if you would like more details on them. you can call me at (734)673-4867 thanks.

Sounds like a TPS problem. This has been covered many times . Do a search on TPS or Auto trans problems. IT is an easey fix and there is a ton of info on it. Also regarding the hot light switch. There was a recall for the 95s on it. Call your local Dodge dealer and give them your vin number and they can do a search and tell you if the recall has been done.

Good luck

the light on the o/d button can on when this happend to me today. when my tps was acting up the light on the button never came on it just shifted up and down when ever it wanted to. today it shifted down and never went back up until i pushed the button in so it could go into lock up.

When my truck was new, it did the same thing a few times then quit and has never done it again.

Like you, I doubt if it is the TPS acting up.

You might want a dealer to check the PCM and possibly download a software upgrade.

Unless the PCM is acting up, it would appear there is a stray ground somewhere in the OD control wiring.

The sometimes phantom OD lockout is something that just happens as far as I know. I have it happen once in a great while. Others have too. So far, no one has found out why.
