A couple of fellow TDR members asked me to post photos of my truck when the bed is installed. I'm trying to learn how to post photos so don't know how this will turn out. I'll try to post one photo per post.

Harvey

Another try. No, the website won't allow me to post the photos here because it is already posted in a separate thread. I was going to delete the other thread later. Oh well.

Harvey

Harvey, much has been posted on TDR about Posting Pictures. Do a search on a thread titled, "Posting Pictures", by Joe G. on Sept 07.

When I want to use the same picture again, I add something to the file name , such "ua" for use again. If I want to use the picture for the 3rd time I add "ua3" and so on. It works as long as there is something different in the file name. Good luck.

Harvey,

Great looking rig.

That Aisin trans. is, from what I've read, one of the best automatics made. It's the one and only reason I might upgrade to an 09 one of these days.

Keep us posted to how you like it, and your new truck.

Ray

HBarlow, I was one of the many members that requested a couple of pics of your new rig, and your reply to me was that it was not as nice as my B&W Elite series flat bed. I don't have that same opinion, I think your bed is as nice as mine and your rig is just as awesome, the only real difference is my bed has tool boxes on the top of the bed as well as the bottom. There is a look about a Dodge that just says "work me hard and as much as you want" and these C&C's magnifies that.

Congratulations on your new rig, it is a very nice looking C&C. :)

Steve...

Steve,

Thanks for the nice comment. I agree. They do look ready for whatever we throw at them. I am looking forward to hooking up soon and seeing if it will pull a trailer.

BTW, does your truck have the plain doors also ie no door side moldings like previous years had?

I bought a set of four Laramie chrome door moldings for an '06 from my favorite parts person, "K" at MOPAR4LESS for $114and installed them today. They are adhesive backed. It looks a little less plain with them installed. I'll take and post another photo when I have the opportunity.

Have you installed gauges in your truck yet? My mechanic buddy and I were looking under the hood this afternoon. Very little of the exhaust manifold is accessible for the pyro probe and only one bolt on the intake for the boost sensor. Looks challenging.

Harvey

Karl,

I am not absolutely certain but I think the only RV I'm going to haul is my own. Come spring when the ice and snow is gone I might change my mind but right now I don't think so.

Thanks for the compliment on my Ram.

Harvey

The moldings wont work on my front doors due to the graphics on the doors and no gages installed and no plans for them. As long as you leave them stock there's no need for gages, per my tech.

Steve,

I agree with your tech, gauges probably aren't needed but they are handy and can be important for cool down before shut down.

My '01 had Joe Donnelly Bosch 275 hp MH injectors and gauges were important. I became so accustomed to and dependent upon gauges with that truck and my '06 I feel almost like I would probably feel if I didn't have a speedometer or tach without them. Besides, I kept the set of DiPricol gauges from the last truck so won't have to buy a new set.

Hi Harvey,

FINE LOOKIN' TRUCK !

If you don't mind..... what was the final price from C&M on that bed..... Looks real nice.

Who did the install ?

And about that Asian transmission..... (I've yet to drive the new Chassis Cabs).....

since there is no "Paddle" on the shift for holding the gear...

how does it work with the exhaust brake?

Do you like it ?

Have some major fun now. .

Thanks. I think I'm going to like it real well.

I bought the bed from a CM dealer here. I think the basic CM "SS" bed was about $1500 plus retailers charge about $380 for installation. I also added the four underbed boxes..... 36" in front of wheels, 24" behind. Total price was right at $3k installed. It took two full shop days for the shop to complete the job.

In regular "drive" the transmission uses a loose MOPAR torque converter and shifts gently up to 6th gear at 50mph. When I lift my foot it downshifts to 5th and engages the brake but cuts it off and coasts at 30mph down to stop. In "tow/haul" it tightens the torque converter, holds each gear a little longer, and shifts firmer up to 5th OD only. When I lift my foot it aggressively applies the brake and downshifts to keep the engine revving slightly and the brake decelerating hard.

I haven't towed yet but am looking forward to it.

Thanks Harvey,

Seems like a great price on that bed.

I like all the boxes.

Hopefully I'll get over to Carson NV and drive one of their CC's one of these days.

Keep the posts coming periodically... . all details are of interest.

Regards,

Ray

How's the bed treatin' ya? I know you haven't used it much yet. Anything you don't like about it. There's a very large trailer dealer that handles the CM flatbeds.
The SS looks to be exactly what I need. I like the price too.

I'm completely satisfied with the bed and storage boxes. I have storage space for everything I want to carry and then some. The CM seems to be an excellent product... . well built, appears very strong, and is powdercoated for durability of finish. It is not the fanciest available but for practical use I'd recommend it to anyone.

Big Tex trailers, a huge success story and apparently the biggest flat bed trailer builder in the industry, recently bought CM beds so they will probably be sold together at dealers all over the country.
