New B-1 Installed

Ok I will have to keep this short tonight but I will follow up with a longer post tomorrow... .



Got Kwikkurts B-1 turbo in tonight all I can say is . Boy does this turbo work! I went from an HX35 to the B-1 and those of you worried about lag, DON'T. I could only go for a quick spin + it is wet and rainy so it wasn't a really good trial of the B-1.



It looks like my egt's are down about 400* from the HX35 for the same runs (used an on ramp to a highway for comparison). As for boost can you say 50 psi+ !!! The lag issue is pretty much a non issue but it looks like where my HX35 started building boost around 1200 rpm, the B-1 starts at 1300 rpm. I tried to compare the two as best as I could by standing on the brake and giving small amounts of throttle until the boost gauge started to move.



The thing also whines sooo nice... . So here is the bottom line, would I purchase it again now that I have tried it? YES, without a doubt! So for all of you on the sideline all I can say is "go for it". Kurt told me that the price will be going up early next week (prices of parts are rising), so if anybody wants one I'd give him a call ASAP.



I will try and post more data tomorrow. If I don't I will post on Sunday (I have a Boyscout campout with my son this weekend).

No silencer ring in the B-1. The turbo whine is not bad though. I left my ring in the HX35 so I can't really tell you how it compares.

Here is a quick follow-up...



Still love the turbo! Spoolup is great just a hair slower than the HX35 I removed. Max boost for the truck with the UFM on 5X5 is over 50psi, and this is just for the truck no trailer. EGT's are reduced dramatically, seems to be 300*-400* for an identical run.



I am going on a campout with my son tonight and I think we are headed up to the Poconos so I should be able to tell more about egt's and inclines on my return.



I bought this turbo with hotrod driving in mind but, being able to pull a load with the Super mental injectors looks like a reality now.

Looks Like I should start on the Bomber Wastegate actuator... . I plan on it being adjustable from 40 to 60 psi. So far though it looks like the Turbine housing is perfectly matched.

Just got home tonight... . There wasn't a lot of time to really evaluate the B-1 on this trip but I can say this. I have been unable to get my egt's over 1000*. Now I haven't pulled anything but I have made numerous runs with the UFM on 5X5 up to warp speed both on flat and inclined roads! The airtemp here has been from 35*-60*. Prior to the B-1 I could hit 1400* real fast (didn't like going much higher than that).



I will keep everyone updated on how its performing but for now I am all !

The max boost I have seen so far is around 54 lbs. This is for the truck only (no trailer) and on fairly level ground!!! A wastegate may be needed before long ... .
