Look real close at that bracket. It has two bushings in it. I was suprised when the parts break down showed it was two bushings per bracket.



I can see the split line between the two bushing in the pic's you posted.



I bet this is going into old browny isn't it?? :D
 
Thanks a bunch Philip, look at my sig. I had to have a small funeral for 'ol browny, it was a very sad day. Don't tell Jermey, I know that he'll be heart broken also. :{
 
Keep the 2wd parts- Mom still has one, and I may get another for highway cruising when I start making some money again.
 
They used these same bushings on the 2WD upper control arm. I aquired all mine from NAPA. I could not remove them. I took the whole mess to the heavy truck shop and allowed them to press out/press in the parts. I tried cutting mine with a torch, but that really made a mess.
 
Jeremy won't mind Chris. It had a long and hard life. The blue one will be looking good now. :D



Scott these bushing are shorter and smaller dia than the Arm bushings. I am pretty sure.



BTW Chris call Jeremy he might want the old flatbed back. LOL

ANd yet, it didnt give me any more MPGs by going to a pickup bed. Go figure.

after getting mine stuck 4 times with a trailer the other day in a snow storm, i am thinking about a 4wd conversion myself. i know its tough and alot easier to buy a 4wd truck to start with, but i dont do anything the easy way.



id really like to find me a crew to convert though. i liked the one i had but hated the issues that came with it.



what happened to cut this one's life short?

If anyone is planning on replacing these, leave them alone!!!#@$%! What a PITA, not to mention that they were $12. 05 each!!!!!



I guess that I do feel a little better knowing that they are new. :rolleyes:



rumblefish, nothing went wrong with the truck, actually both trucks came up for plates and inspection and I decided that 4 vehicles were just to many to keep on the road.



Got the front axle mounted today. :D Hopefully the motor won't weigh the new springs down too much, cause I really like the clearance b/w the bumpstops now. :D

Looks good Chris, keep us updated. I'm wondering how much work it is. And I see you have a nice clean empty place to work. I'll keep playing the lottery. ;)
 
Chris, Tell me you are going to rebuild the brakes? Looks like the pad is only rubbing on about 1/2" of the rotor. Old blue is going to look sweet rolling on high heels now! If will fit in much better in the great state of Missouri. Gotta have some mud tires on it too... . ;)



On those bushings, I'm suprised they weren't beat out, I figure mine are in need of replacement at 250,000 miles. I was hoping to completely rebuild the front end of my old 93 this winter, but its not going to happen. Maybe next winter.



You'll have to come on up to SW Iowa and visit now. We moved homeword. I'll bet your dad hasn't forgotten about the 'milkshake' statement at my house. :-laf

Man, I can't get anything by you guys. I guess that I'll have to take lower quality pictures. I power washed the front end off, so there is a little rust on the rotors. :rolleyes:



DieselBuzz, I had the springs made @ St. Louis Spring. I had them add another leaf in all 4 corners, and got ~3" of lift arched in them.
 
how big of a pita was it to change the engine cross member? did you have to pull the motor?



I wasn't planning on pullin' the motor, but... . there was no other way to change the cross members. I had to drill holes to move the cross member to its location. Also it gave me a chance to change the pan gasket and other things that were much easier with the motor out.



I just got the last piece from the UPS man tonight to make it driveable. :D :D:D By tomorrow afternoon I should be back behind the wheel. Oo. Now I guess that I need to re-insure it. :rolleyes:
