Competition truck pulling

Well I got to get back on the dyno after working some stuff out from Thursday's run, to tell you the truth I'm a little disappointed but no big deal. First is valet power that you won't see a sheet on as I just ran it for giggles... power is 565 in valet.

So here is the dyno sheet from the runs, 726 in fuel only at 62 psi and 774 at 67 psi with Water/Methanol on. I tried several things today, tried to make more boost... ... didn't work much better, more water netted me zero power gain. Now the real world, Dyno boost is down 18 psi as last night's testing sent it to 80..... fuel only, also for the first time I tried more timing, I don't know if the dyno works well with it but the road sure does as the truck is flat scary and I have made allot of passes at 700 hp. So the out come as of now is a 50 hp gain(fuel only) with the new Twins at the same boost level/same dyno and an additional 20 hp gain on the Water/Meth. I guess I shouldn't complain about a setup that made the trip back from Canada(3300 miles) at 20+ MPG.

Jim I am green with envy!! I cant wait to be dissapointed when my truck only makes 774hp!! :D

What turbos are you using for your new twin setup??

I wouldn't be too disapointed on those #'s Jim.

As per our discussion in the last couple of days, you should have done the turbo adjustments only. Then you would have had a better base line for the waste gate tweaks we talked about. Then you should have adjusted the timming and noted the difference.

Because you upped the timing more, you lost boost, moved your max power up to higher rpm's and lost your results of the waste gate adjustments. No big deal. Just means you have to do some more testing bud. ;)

Good job Jim. :)

The larger the chargers the harder it is to get the boost up on the dyno as there is not enough load for the most part. I have seen this over and over. I think you will see more gains if you just keep plugging away at it. Attention to the small details will get you there.

Thanks guys, Mark I'll try the timing back were it was next time but that will be a bit, time to play Navy again. I really doubt I'll make much more boost on that dyno but I may get fooled, what I need is the dyno as Piers's... ... that puppy will load. I really like the timing higher were it is now, it makes a little lag(1800 verses 1600 light off) but the topend is great. I just wish I could tell you'll how hard this dang thing pulls... . lets try! Tonight coming back from the store I was at 2K in third, lit it off and locked it up and almost instantly had to shift to 4th and passing 90 MPH is was still moving around from the tire slippage... ... border line between scary and stupid, yes everything was on, boost, I never looked at anything but the road..... WARNING stay away from this area!

Jim

I'm gonna laugh when you have to start carrying about 2k# in the back just to keep traction for daily driving.

Which poses another idea, would some weight in the bed and strapping down a little tighter on the Dyno help with loading it up? Your charts look a little choppy and I wonder if you are not getting a little tire slippage.

Great numbers Jim! Can't wait to see the 800hp mark broken!

Congrats Jim.

I think we are all finding out that these big chargers don't spool well on the dyno. Get a 500HP dyno'd truck on the street, and we can put him in the rearview mirror easily.

Especially you with more dyno proven HP.

I made only 509 without any tuning,, just big injectors, and big turbo's... I have high hopes with just a little tuning we will pick up plenty of HP.

All we need is Piers's dyno, with that dyno you can set it on kill and let's say at 2K, 3K or were ever you want to hold it there, it will go to that point and stop the trucks speed without spinning.

I'll make the next round of tweaks and try it again sometime when I get back but I'm not sweating it nor am I looking for more power, the truck runs too good and is too streetable to change.

Jim

Jim, that is one sweet running truck! Someday I hope to meet you and drool next to that thing! Maybe you'll be in the mood to give a roller coaster ride (hint, hint)

I didnt realize you were in the Navy, hats off to you my friend and all else that support and protect our great nation!
