jig time

Hello everyone, Been thinking about this since this thread started. No one on this thread appears to have used a jig so the amount of time to do the job was uncertain for me. Gummel PM'ed about this and I decided I needed to find out just how long this would take. I did the jig yesterday and it took me one hour and twenty seven minutes. Can't tell I kept a close eye on the watch can you? This was from the time I lifted the hood till the time I closed the hood.

Now in all fairness I have to say the time would have been shorter if I had not had to repeat a step or two. For instance, the serpentine (sp) belt needs to be put in place before the Horton fan goes back on the fan mount.

This whole process went just like clockwork otherwise and is just as straight forward as described in many other posts. The air coming from the hole when I drilled, used the countersink and tap, blew chips out very well indeed. Kudos for CPFF for designing this kit.

My tool box is not too extensive, (can you ever have too many tools?) but I had everything I needed.

This is good info! Do you recall how long you actually needed the jig for? If guys are getting ready to use the jig, then using it when it comes available, then putting back together; a certain amount of overlap can occur... This should shorten the overall time considerably--as someone previously mentioned.....

Matt, I did not specifically check but it could not have been for more that 15-20 minutes from bolt on to unbolt of the jig. Very simple and plenty of room to work too. The tightest part is the fan and fan pulley.

Did you get the adjustable air regulator? That was still kinda up in the air... . no pun intended.

Matt, Yes I got the adjustable regulator. The gauge does not go to real small increments but I got it to about 2- 2 1/2 lbs. This worked fine. To not overpressurize when I first hooked it up I pulled the engine dipstick then put it back in slowly when I got part way thru the housing. Worked great.

Darren, No pin movement that I could tell. The drill went all the way to the stop as is was suppose to. Very easy fix overall.

-- Initial rendezvous at Exit 28 off I84, the 76 truck stop.



-- Second stop to meet with MacTruck at the rest area of his choice (what was that again?)



-- And then off to breakfast at Cracker Barrel... um, um biscuits and gravy!!

1. Meet at 7:30 at the 76 truck stop.

2. Then meet at around 8:00 - 8:15 at the Rest area after exit 70 East bound on I-84.

3. Then we meet at Cracker Barrel in Sturbridge (Off exit 3a Eastbound It will be on your left about 1000 FT. ) at around 8:30 - 8:45.



This would enable us to sleep a little Hey My Dowel pin is Fine :-laf But my injectors could use a changin :-laf

FOr anyone interested, I have the materials to do one muffler/resonator elimination. 12 ga tubing, clamps, hangers. Did it on mine two weeks ago, sounds great.
