New for '06..no more high idle or pinion factor changes

I had my exh brake installed on my new truck today. I also wanted the pinion factor set for my 285 tires. The other request I had was to enable the cruise controlled high idle like my '05 had. No dice on those two requests.



So what is up? Are the '06 electronics so much different that they have really eliminated the tire correction and high idle control :{



I am making the call to customer service if for nothing else but to express my EXTREME displeasure with the downgrading of features on my new truck.

I think Bob4x4 stated you can use the new STAR scan tool to change gear ratios from something like 3. 0x to 4. 8x. So you *should* be able to calculate what your theoretical new gear ratio is and program it into your truck.



Haven't heard about the high idle, though.

I really don't think what you want is possible, as the Exhaust brake will disengage when the throttle is applied to give anything more than idle speed. As too the gear ratio settings for the speedometer, the scanner should be able to do that as on my 03 truck. I did have to know my corrected speed, so I used my GPS to make this determination. I can't imagine why the 06 would be any different.

BUT you can't use it at the same time you use the brake at idle. I know,I know, sucks... . But at least it is still there for people without a brake



And BTW, the brake only works at idle if the truck is not at operating temp

Have you tried it with the brake? You don't have to touch the foot feed to get the idle up. I was hoping to idle it up and engage the brake but I suppose some lawyer ruined that dream



I did read that the brake shuts off when coolant reaches 170 *F. That is plenty warm. I just don't care for the idea of that low idle warm up. I fear it will eventually cause problem due to unburned fuel. I suppose the brake takes care of that by providing some load to create the heat needed.



I contacted CS and started a case file. I have LOTS of time on my hands and will be making a serious nuisance of myself in an attempt to get a tire correction and the high idle engaged.

Opps, I knda lied a little there, What I meant to say was on TEATON's truck, When I tried the high idle with hte cruise control buttons, it already worked... I did not have to change anything in the computer (with a "starscan" tool)



So I bet it is already there, Has anyone tried a stock truck yet?

Cruise switch on,hit set button,hit accel to raise speed.

I will try it out on the next 06 I get in. I think I remember seeing the option on the star scan. All the menues are different from the DRB.

That was what I did. Are there other factors, such as the doors being closed or a maximum temperature? I understand that A/T must be in Park. The times I tried it, the engine may have already been warmed up.

It was not enabled on my truck before the brake install. I tried it. It also only requires the trans to be in park. On my '05 it could be idled up with the door open and/or the engine warm.



So if it is in there why wont they enable it for me? This is sooooo contrary to when I had these things done on the '05. It took 5 minutes and I was a happy camper. The other day it took 30 minutes of the tech sitting on the phone followed by NO results.



Customer service via email only got me an "I'm sorry, hope we can do better next time" NEXT TIME #@$%! who says there will be a next time. The battle rages on.
