Steve,

Can you set a different color than red as the default? There are many members who are timid about doing things like changing colors no matter how simple it is.

Steve,

Don't know if you have had time to get into addressing the editing features of the "quick post"

I just tried the "add quote" to highlighted section. page cleared, went to top of thread page and erased the text.

Steve,

The resizing of images and linking to a full size is awesome! On the color issue, could you use the font color pallette in the reply to post screen. Lots of colors there...

p. s. Haven't found any bugs yet...

Steve, let me add my thanks for your efforts. I also will echo the others about the color of RED and the space the borders seem to take away from the text area. The gray color is better but then rather hum-drum. If there is an option, I would like to see a little color but not the intense basic colors if you know what I mean. It will take a little while for my old brain to adjust to the new formats etc but overall I think it is good. I only exercised it a little but had no trouble.

Thanks again for your efforts!

George

Steve, thanks for all your work! I'm not very computer savvy, so most stuff goes right by me... I liked the color selection in the signature area, as well as the drop down menus.

As much as I like red, it is a little much for the border; the grey is better, but is "hum-drum", maybe an earthy blue or green?

I also prefer alternating backgrounds (darker and lighter) in the posts, as it is easier to keep track of posts.

Hope I clicked on the correct version...

My . 02... :)

Most of the text (the messages, etc) is the same size as we have now. There is also some smaller text - which we also have right now. The stuff that's smaller is the ancillary stuff - the main meat and potatoes is all the same size we're running now.

But the top of the page, the buttons overlap some text and part of the TDR logo. It might be my browser, though.

That would be a Konqueror problem - the menu should be lining up with the horizontal bars right below the TDR logo and the ad. I will download Konqueror and see what I can do about it. Which version are you running?

John, that would be a bug with the base vB3 code. I'll have to look into it and see if it is a known issue. I'll try to replicate it. Last night you said some of the menus links were broken - which ones? There shouldn't be any broken menu links.

Steve, can you give me an example of an html color code so I don't give you worthless information.

An html color code looks like this 9A9A9A . If you click on a color on that chart the large 6 digit number to the right is the html color code. Yes, I can set a different color as the default. None of the people that tested it before the users did had an issue with the red and that's why it's the default right now. It's obvious that most of you don't like it so we'll have to go with something different. Give me some ideas off of that color chart.

On the colors it's not as easy as that. I have to create a template and a set of 5 graphics files for each background color. I would prefer to keep the number of them down for that reason.

The alternating colors really won't work with that graphics skin and vB3 really isn't setup to do that.

Steve,

Here are 5 that seem to be easier in the eyes...

3333CC Med Faded Blue

33CCCC Med Faded Cyan

009900 Dark Faded Green

009999 Darf Faded Cyan

990000 Dark Faded Red

Steve,

I'm using Konqueror 3. 1. 4 on KDE 3. 1. 3 (the default w/Mandrake Linux 9. 2)

I have seen the same effects on a couple of other message board sites.

Steve, thanks for all the time you give to making this site what it is. On the new changes, here are my thoughts.

1) The border could be made smaller. in either color its too big, using up space that could be displaying more text in fewer lines.

2)The hover preview feature now shows the preview pane when you hover anywhere in the message line. I like it better when it activates only when hovering over the actual text in the message link.

3)I don't like the quick reply feature requiring you to click the button in the last message. If you have to do that, you might as well click the regular reply button and get access to the advanced features. The way this quick reply works is just fine.

Otherwise, the board is fine.

I've added styles for each of those colors. Take a look and tell me what you think. I'll put up a poll later tonight on colors. The dark red was a color that I had looked at initially, btw.

Hello Steve,

First I also want to say that you are doing an outstanding job! Keep up the good work!!

The only thing that I can see at this point, is that I am unable to log in with my user name or password to the test discussion forums. Even though, I was logged into the regular site before. I'm not sure if maybe their is something going on with my username, or what.

I'm not sure if anyone on hear knows, but I am visually impaired, and am using screen reading technology to read this site. The software does not use the mouse, but I use all keyboard commands. I am noticing that their are more shortcut keys to do some of the basics on the new test site. My screen reader uses the text on the screen. So, the fewer images on the particular links, the easier it is for me to navigate! I'm glad to see that has not changed on the new site!

By the way. I personally do not care of what color the screen is anyways. In fact, my monitor is not even on as I type this! Lol!

Anyways, Thank you again for your hard work!

Mark

Steve,

I agree on these 2 items. Can't thank you enough for the new colors. Hopefully there's a little something for everyone. The darker colors make the new, lighter format IMMENSELY easier to read and focus on.

The people that are not giving any input on the new format are missing out. In this day of shoving things down peoples throats, having a voice in the design or setup of anything amazes me.

I can't thank you enough for allowing our input, no matter how small...

Steve I just noticed that at the bottom of the list of threads it shows description of the icons preceding the thread title. Shouldn't the icon for "Hot thread with no new posts" be a closed envelope with flames? I just noticed it because it looks like all hot threads have new posts.

I liked the look of the new site. The comments above are good to incorporate, but from my standpoint I'd be OK with it the way it is.

I do like the qick post function, but don't liek having to pick one to reply to either. :)

Looks like you've been working hard though Steve, crack a long neck open, you deserve it!
