The front leaf's on my truck are saging upside down, and as far as i can tell are clearly worn out. I am going to try to fit some bfg 34-35's under it and plan to build a frond bumper (close to the ranch-hand style... heavy)

so i was wondering what would be smarter to do, get new front leaf springs, i would probly want to get the 1900 lbs capacity 6 leaf design for $200 a pair, or get a skyjacker front end 2 inch ad-a-leaf for $90 a pair.

since the springs are worn so bad i cant emagine the ad-a-leaf being able to bring the springs up and still get me some added hight. would totaly new springs give me more hight, and overall support in the longrun??? any suggestions?

thanks yall

Go for a new set of front springs... . I just had a new set made for my 92 W250 w/a 2. 5" lift over stock and I really like them.

so you had a set made? where did you get this done? mind sharing the cost? if i get a new set of springs, will its make the truck sit higher up front, or is it necessary to get a new set and minor lift???

I had my springs made by Benz Spring in Portland, Or.

Benz Spring Company Home Page

The springs even had the 5/8" diameter bushing so it was bolt and go.
The cost was approx. $380 with shipping.
Now my truck sits almost level, so when I have some extra money, I will order a set of rear springs with 2. 5" lift.

if i get the new set of springs (the six leaf factory set) will the truck sit level? i would acctually hope that it would, because im looking for upfront clearence and i plan to put a heavy bumper on it.

i will post some picture of the springs so you might be able to tell me how much a new set of springs will raise my front end.

thanks

Not to start a war here, but I've always liked my pickups to sit a little higher in the back end. That way, it is closer to level when I put a 5x5 round bale of wet hay in the bed, itwont squat and look like a 1/2ton. I have noticed a trend toward levelling the front end. It makes it look like the rear springs are worn out.

Dad, thats a no-brainer..... new springs win out against add-a-leafs every time. Denver spring can work you up a set of great springs, ones that ride better then the stockers and give you the added height you need.

Go with Skyjackers, I've used them in 2 first gens so far with fantastic results. On their website, springs with a "C" are specifically engineered for Cummins equipped Dodges. I have the 4" springs in mine, click my "Reader's Rigs" if you want to take a look.

ah yes. i absolutly love you truck by the way. it looks mint.

with the 4" kit, didnt you have to get many other new componants, larger pitman arm, shocks, etc. ? i am looking to raise the front just enough to fit slightly bigger tires under it, but only have to deal with the leaf springs. i really cant afford at this point anything more than a set of springs.

Yes, with the 4" kit I did have to do the pitman arm, sway bar extentions, shocks and an adjustable drag link. However my last truck, a '90 W250, I did 2. 5" front springs and a slightly larger rear block and did not have to modify the stearing, shocks etc. Here is a pic of the '90 with the 2. 5" Skyjackers installed:

P. S. Thanks for the compliment.

your welcome.

man that truck is awesome. i really like your taste. not too much, just tastefully modified.

what size tire are those?

thats not a cummins is it?

with the 2. 5, did you have to do anything other than install the springs?

about how much does the 2. 5 inch go for??? (for a cummins)

Both trucks were/are Cummins equipped. The blue 1990 with the 2. 5" had 33's on it, the 1992, the black dually in my reader's rigs, has 32's on it. BF Goodrich switched to metric sizes, so they don't officially make "33's" anymore. I think they're 175's, or 185's?? I can't remember and my truck is in the shop getting painted right now so I can't check for you. As far as price, I can't remember that either... I must be getting old, I can't seem to remember anything these days.
